Neither of those torque numbers show a 40+ gain...unless they are measuring at the rear wheels on a dyno or something...but I don't think that is the case since the hp gains are on par.

You got me interested. I bought the magazine. All the ratings with the modules were rear wheel on a dyno. The stock CRD on the same dyno was 159hp rear wheel (154hp + 5hp increase from the free flow muffler) and the stock torque was 259 lb-ft. Based on the only other dyno tests I've seen the rear wheel torque of the CRD without a free flow muffler was 252 iirc, so the muffler added about 6 ft-lbs.

The DP was faster timewise in the quarter mile than the Predator but the Predator gives very slighty higher increases in hp/tq.

So the numbers were:

Stock hp Stock torque Comments
159 268 torque falls off quickly after 2000 rpm
1/4 mile stats 18.8 seconds at 73.1 mph

DP hp DP torque Comments
183.3 306.6 torque/hp starts faster on curve, flattens curve out and lasts longer before drop-off
0-60 mph times reduced by 3 seconds TUV certified
50-70 passing reduced by 2 seconds Setting D (settings range from 0 to F)

1/4 mile 16.9 seconds at 81.6 mph

Predator hp Predator torque Comments
183.9 310.1 ft-lbs no setting adjustment
0-60 mph time reduced by 3 seconds
50-70 passing times reduced by 2 seconds
1/4 mile 17.1 seconds at 82.3 mph

Mileage gain with both chips 10% or 1 mpg towing nearly 5000 lbs.

Pretty good test, the only thing I dont like is that they didnt test the SP Module. Or was this test just for modules which do not increase fuel pressure?

The article didn't say. They did say driveability was greatly increased, from low down torque, to passing on the highway. DW is turning out to be a pretty decent magazine. Actually has useful information, something more than dozens of pages of ads for Ford, Chevy and Dodge diesel pickup trucks.

3 seconds off 0-60 is what we needed...I bet it gets rid of the intial dead zone when you first depress the go pedal. Almost makes it just as fast 0-60 as the new Xterra with 265hp...not bad

I wouldnt be to sure about that. Mine doesnt. And I think its only logical, since the turbo needs a second to kick in. A Compressor would fix that problem.

Predator does reduce the initial lag but not a huge difference. I think it's actually worse because when you floor it the wheel just spins and spins!

Yeah but how does it pull above 85mph to say 110 mph?

I e-mail the maker of my unit what correct dial setting is for theTS Performance
module for the CRD.
They suggested between 8 through D. I set the unit to B from 9 and
wow this this is crazy. Its a huge increase in performance. Its hard staying
under 50. It climbs to about 85mph in a hurry but still doesn't have a ton
of accelleration after that. It makes accelerating and passing alot better
then stock.

Oh my god! With mine, I ALWAYS wanna drive interstate above 75 it is sooooo freaking fast. I never shift out of OD and smoke so many vehicles. I smoked V6 mustangs an dozens of F150's and countless riceburners. While other vehicles have to shift out of OD to get goin, I just ease on the accelerator and within seconds Im goin 110.
By the way, does anyone know why the KJ only runs 110? Is it regulated?

That's what is commonly called "drag-limited"
our torque biaised brick is pushing so much air, you reach the force needed vs. force available and you stay at that speed... and if you have bigger tires and roof rack you can loose like, hmm, 5mph... not that I would never do such a thing myself!

That makes sense, but then why cant I go faster when I have more power? Even with the programmer turned all the way up it will still only go 110.

I wasn't able to go faster either without the Predator... the only difference today is i can get there sooner 8)
I would tend to agree we have some sort of regulator, but then why I don't feel any of the cutoff like i'm used in my previous cars???

Your tires are S-speed rated which should be 112mph sped rating. Not sure but I have gone beyond the 110 mph on a BRIEF stint on the autobahn. As soon as I get some H-spped rated AT tires I will be out testing this theory. I am still good at cruising between 100-110 mph.

I don't understand why you'd want to go 100+ in this vehicle with its center of gravity being so high. It sucks at handling.

Checking the capability of a vehicule is always good. It gives me a better understanding of the actual handling, which btw is very good for a 4x4. Being able to do avoidance manoeuvers with confidence is actually a plus :-)
I had totaled a car with a deer encounter on the highway and can tell you avoidance would have save both the car and the big deer.

I do adjust my driving to the condition, don't worry! The worst guys are not the 100+ on free stretch of the highway, its those imbeciles that drives 40 in neighborhood where there's houses and kids and pets

BRICK!? How dare you! Compared to a Wrangler the Liberty is downright svelt and streamlined like an Indy racer! :P

1st Look at where I live. Land of the autobahns, $6.10 a gallon gas and having to keep up with traffic.

2nd I auto x my KJ whenever I can.

3rd the KJ handles almost as good as a ML400CDi, first run in the auto-x netted me a faster time than a SRT4.

Hey Guys
I've been Beta testing a Module from Painless Performance (http://www.painlesswiring.com/) for a little over a week now. So far so good. The vehicle feels a hell of a lot stronger (even at the lower settings) and seems to be getting about 12-15% better on fuel economy.
