What were your results with warranty at the dealership?

I was initially denied at two dealerships. At that point I was going to suck it up and pay out of pocket. When I went in to get some parts about two weeks later, the service rep comes up to me and says that an unmodified Liberty blew their housing as well. He covered his and felt bad that he didn't cover mine since in his eyes the excuse of it being modified no longer held water. He said it helped that I didn't go ranting and raving when they initially declined it. It seems that my service manager knew someone at regional that was more inclined to the "It's a Jeep" philosophy and referred it to him. I had to wait two weeks for the OK but in the end it was covered.

Good Luck!

Dave

OK guys, thanks for posting. Now I need some more help, the service manager called the regional Powertrain Tech Center for this area (Detroit) and was turned down for warranty repair. I was told to take this up with customer service at 1-800-992-1997.

Now I need more help from you guys. Could you please provide the last 6 digits of your vin numbers and the name and location of the dealership that performed the warranty repair.
Please also state if you were stock or modified when your housing broke.

Thanks for the help,
Nick...KJ04

If you can, try to take as many pictures of the damage as you can including close up shots inside crack. That way you might be able to prove to the company if there was a flaw in the casting or any other defect.

It would be a good idea to keep the VIN numbers (last few digits) + dealer name/location around permanently, just in case people blow their front diffs again in the future they can reference this information.
