4x2 wangler. I like that idea. Might have to cancel the order on the 4x2 Tundra. I just need something with more room and to be able to tow the TJ to moab next year.

are you talking about the 4door and trailer towing or flat towing?
The 4door needs more engine to be considered a real towing rig though ...

Yeah, your right. Nothing worse then being under powered. Been there, done that.

Does anyone else think the fenders on the frontal shots look like huge drooping elephant ears.

I am so glad I got an 06

No, I think they look fine. INterested to see what a set of tube steel fenders will look like though.

Regardless of looks, stock vs stock, the Rubi JK will outwheel a Rubi TJ any day.

What about a stock rubi unlimited. I figure wheelbase is close to the same and just where are you pulling those facts from

I wheeled both a stock TJ and stock JK on the Rubicon. JK has 32" tires and swaybar disco. Stock TJ has 30.5" tires and No disco. Trust me, go wheel one and you will know it just by the seat of your pants. Mike from Az. wheels a TJ Unlimited and Loved how the 4 dr. JK handled and wheeled compared to his. I would be real surprised if he doesn't have one in his driveway soon. His wife had the same thoughts about it too.

Most of the time it is not the vehicle that makes the difference. It has alot to do with the driver and his/her ability to pick their line. But it would be interesting to put an 07 in with an 06 just to see. IMO the engine change was not the best move. The 4.0 has been used for so long now and has had very little problems. It is a simple design and easy to work on. I would like to see how much more difficult it is to put a snorkel on the V-6. I like the idea of the elec. disco for the sway bar and wish I had that on my 06 as far as the rest of the plastic parts and fog light in the bumper I can do without.

Agreed on engine and bumpers. HOwever, Bumpers would be the first thing I would remove (Mopar already has a set of steel bumpers available) and the engine works fine off road when that transfer case lever is pulled to 4Lo.
Given the same driver over the same course, I would bet money that the JK could get through quicker w/ better control. It soaks up the trail so much better and has great clearance and stock flex w/ that disco.

I know that it may not affect you in Cali. But i was told (so it is hear say) that in NY if a vehicle comes with lights in a certain place they have to remain in that same spot. This will make it difficult for aftermarket when it comes to the bumper if this is true. That is one of those little things that could be a pain in the rear when it comes to inspection time. Just like the LED taillights for the TJ. You are supposed to put the reflective tape on the side of the Jeep when you install the lights but if they don't catch it at inspection than your golden.

I think he's disagreeing about the capabilities of the JK exceeding the TJ. But, FYI, I noticed that Jeep just updated their website and the JK section is fully updated.

X2 You disagree or X2 you want to know what he disagrees with?

If you are thinking the wheelbase of the JK makes it less capable than the TJ, think again. I guess you had to be there when we were wheeling them on the trail. Bottom line is the JK is a Better Jeep than the TJ in enough areas to be called Superior. Maybe my HO, but I also got to compare them side by side and wheel both versions. I am not comparing the 4 door JK to the 2 door TJ or TJ Unlimited for that matter. Though I still think the 4 dr. JK still has an advantage over the TJ Unlim. stock Vs. stock.
Wheel both new and old and let us know what you think afterward. Several of the attendees at the JK launch were sure surprised once they got to drive it and several were TJ or TJ Unlim. owners.

The story from above flopped JK story on JP:
"Rock and Roll

In case you wondered what a JK would look like after a roll, we watched this two-door go dirty-side up after a bad line caused by some questionable spotting on a challenging obstacle. Proving how tough the new Jeep is, the occupants walked away with only a little soreness and some bruised egos. Once we righted the JK and cleared oil from the cylinders, we pulled off the doors and top, reattached the flenders, and continued driving for the rest of the trip without issue."

Ouch.
