So I am slowly putting together my off road accessory kit and was taking a peek at tow straps. It looks like there are plenty out there, with many of them being pretty darn spendy. I think I've seen recommendations for Warn's kits. I did see a pretty good deal on this tow strap, anyone familiar with this? Is it good or is it crap.

$20 bucks gets ya a 2"x30' 20,000lb tow strap.

Wal-Mart carries a 2"x20' 20k lbs. strap for cheap. I've used it quite a few times and no problems yet.

One of the main things is to buy one WITHOUT the metal hooks. Just use a good starp without any hooks and you should be good as long as it has a high load range. Later...Clint

What's the reasoning for no metal hooks? Is it because it can slip easier? Become a dangerous projectile in the air if the strap should snap?

Wow, I feel like I'm ready to take on Africa now! Another great article.
I saw them use a "land anchor" on Top Gear last night. He outfitted a LR3 with a winch but didn't think about the lack of attachment point on a Scottish mountain. Fortunately for him his crew had the anchor. It was an interesting segment.
