Maybe this is just me being me, but does anyone see the possibility of the Liberty going away with the introduction of both the Compass & Patriot vehicles and the JK unlimited. Yes, I know there are spy shots of a new Liberty for 2008, but think about it: the KJ's primary market was to owners that are not interested in 4 wheeling. It was marketed to get someone to work in the snow or in bad weather. Now you have 3 new vehicles that cross into the KJ market (small SUV). The Compass for "car-like ride", Patriot for light duty off-roading, and the JK Unlimited for Jeep owners like us....plus the issues with ball joints and the D30a that Jeep engineers are aware of (but won't permenatly fix due to the $$$ needed for the 850K+ KJs on the road)

I just believe that there is a lot of product cross over for Jeep and the way that American auto companies are doing these days has me suspect the Liberty will not make it to 2010.

I agree about the Liberty having a questionable future. Personally though, I think that (please don't crucify me for saying this), the four door wrangler would be a worthy replacement for the Liberty. It will maintain the offroad image of the brand (as we are proving with the Liberty) and offer a good larger alternative. By the way, my local dealer isn't getting them in for at least two weeks. I'll check em out when I'm getting my recall done.

So I finally saw one of these in real life and got to test drive it today for about 40 miles! It was a 2007 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited X 4x4, Rescue Green Soft Top. It has the tow package which forces the 4.10 rear axel gear ratio and it had optional 17" wheels. For all the nay-sayers about get up and go, this thing hauled booty even with the A/C on. Check out the pics from today:

The pictures don't do it justice. The 4-door looks like a normal proportioned looking vehicle. It just looks right when seeing it in person. This one stickered at $26,660. Fuel economy rated at 16mpg/19mpg (no dbout due to the 4.10 gear ratio).

One thing potentially bad for tall drivers (I'm 6'9" tall). The back of my head hits the roll cage behind the driver seat, and not just the top, but darn near the center of the back of my head, even with the seat adjusted all the way down. I'm thinking anyone over 6'2" tall that needs the seat all the way back will have problems.

But, it was still AWESOME to see one and drive it - especially my favorite color!!! :D

Not at all, I'm in the same boat. I can't wait to see the Unlimiteds lifted. Quite possibly one of the sweetest vehicles ever made in my mind. And I was messing around on the Jeep website, did you all know that the upgraded stereo has a 20 gb harddrive for storing music. Thats awesome!

Does anybody else wonder how you're going to relocate your mirrors on this thing when you take the doors off? They aren't attached to the hinge anymore. And the windshield pillar looks awfully narrow to put anything on.

Yeah. Good point. THe tires don't look all that great either. It's gonna take some getting used to even having 2wd Wranglers running around.

The shifter for 4WD is much different than the one in the TJ or KJ. It is there, you can barely see the bottom of the shaft.[/i]

Are you referring for that little bit of something just above the P symbol for the tranny? I take it it looks like a regular shift lever instead of the pull lever we have??

Yes. See the window sticker below. And yes, we have them on the lots, not many, but a rare few. These things are bad to the bone awesome(for short people)!

The automatic transmission forces the 4.10 rear axel ratio, NOT the trailer tow group in this case. Build it on jeepwarehouse.com to see what I mean.

I saw a white four door unlimited on the road today. It was very nice. However, I gotta admit the back end does resemble the H3.

HI Guys, Long time no see :)

I have a confession, In about 3 weekts time I will have a severe modification done to my 02 KJ Renny. I will be taking a text editor and removing some letters,. Adding a few more and posting pics of my 06 JK Rubi (Possibly Unlimited depending on the testdrive.)

Has anyone been behind the wheel of a 4door yet? I have read reviews where they say its really sluggish to start and really slow to stop. Any insight to this? I stopped driving my 03 Grand cherokee because it was underpowered having a V6 and wouldn't want that to happen with the Unlimited.

Other than that, How the heck are yas doing? :)

Looking into one as well to replace my company car. Local dealers have(had) one. Silver X 4x4. Sat in it for a minute or two in between people fighting for a test drive.

Seems nice and my 5'8" daughter fits in the back with me (6'4" 250#) in the front.

Not ready to give up the Renegade yet! :o

I'm a little concerned about the commets about it being sluggish and slow braking. I'll be getting rid of my'05 Xterra which I have been pretty happy with even if my wife gets to drive the Liberty.

Well I went and checked one out at the dealer near my church. I think I'll stick with my KJ for a while. While I can't deny that the offroad prowess of the JK is awesome, I don't think I could get rid of the luxury that I have now for daily driving. However, Jeep should put that folding rear seat in the KJ. Very cool how the headrests fold back.

*EDIT: Never mind. I take that back. Looked at them again and they're sweet. I'm too young to need leather seats and stuff like that. lol.
