What kind of gear do we need to bring? Gloves definitely. Axes? Garbage bags?

Beer?

I would say, a good pair of gloves, maybe some trash bags. The heavy duty contractor ones. Good shoes or boots. Maybe a small shovel or pole to stick under something before you put your hands down there. Snakes.

As much as I like (love) beer, I can not advise on that topic. That would have to be an individual call, and due to the circumstances in what we are doing, I would highly discourage it. But if I were to come across a 12'ver abandoned in the bushes, like I did in DV, that puppy would be riding home with me.

Ted, Do we have access to any equipment, gloves, trash bags, etc. that we can use from the BLM or Rangers?

I had thought I'd posted what to bring on this topic, but it must have been on another. Duh.

Anyway, please bring gloves, trash bags, a shovel, maybe a crow bar if you have one. The Forest Service has shovels and pry bars but it's a lot of work to go to Lake Arrowhead first to get them, easier to bring our own.

How about "TRAIL TRASH" on our shirts? The logo could be a LOST garbage can.

When you're going to do something different, it's always best to condition yourself beforehand.

So, to get in shape for this run, think trashy thoughts. There will NOT be a test and your not sharing will be appreciated.

What do we have to haul the stuff away? Ted, I think I heard that you have a trailer.?.?.? Do you want me to pick one up? Where are we going to dump all the trash? More importantly, the big stuff like tires, and stuff that don't really go to well in the trash. That's why people dump it on the side of the road. You know what I mean?

And who pays the dumping fees if there are any?

After checking with the ranger, the large dump sites near the bottom of the trail are on State land and those are their responsibility. Other than those places, there wasn't a whole lot elsewhere.

Of course, there's nothing preventing us from picking that stuff up too. What do you want to do?

As far as where to take it, there's a Forest Service dumpster at Lake Arrowhead, not too far from the end of 2N33 by Rock Camp. If there's a lot, though, it might have to go elsewhere, like the Victorville dump. They have a minimum charge of $20, which, if we have to use it, I'll pay for.

Depending on whether or not we pick up the State trash, we'll know what to bring in the way of vehicles and trailers. If we do decide to pick it up, I'll bring my pickup and trailer; if not they wouldn't be necessary. Also, if we do pick it up, any other pickups or trailers would be helpful; if too much for one load we can pile it up temporarily and get it later. Still better than the way it is now.

I say we clean up whatever we find, wherever it is. We can also take up a collection to pay any dump fees, I'm good for a couple bux.

I'm sure I can toss in a couple bucks too. no reason for one person to pay for it.
