Thats right folks, buy the heavy duty steel diff cover w/custom RockLizard requested modifications and get Amsoil gear lube AT COST :!: :!:

Actually that is quite a brilliant idea JJ, helps promote a few more sales for RL, who is giving us a great deal I believe, and also introduces a few folks to Amsoil products in as painless of a way as possible, sounds like a win, win, win, situation. Hopefully I can come up with the funds to at least get in on the diff cover, I'm over 10K miles right now so it wont be long before I am going to have to tear it all apart anyhow.

RL's deal on this is Very good and I am tweaking my budget hoping to pick up a pair of D44 covers and one 8.25.

So, to repeat at the top of this page,

How about MY COST (+ tax/shipping) on the Severe Gear (or other Amsoil gear lube) diff lube for Anyone ordering this diff guard from Rock Lizard?

PM me your address and I will get you a total quote on 2 Qts to your door. (or whatever amount you want/need)

Hey JJ,
Would you put the 75 w 90, or would you go with the thicker, "severe use" 75 w 140 amsoil lube even if I do not tow?
Will gas mileage be hindered much with the thicker stuff? Can the thicker stuff be put in front as well?
Also, Rock lizard, I want to order the cover as well, I am just waiting on reviews when everyone gets them installed...they look great..

I would only bother to use the 75W-140 if you tow heavy and often. As good as the Severe Gear is, even the 75W-90 would hold up fine to light towing. Personally, I Do run the 75W-140 in front even though it isn't called for. It is up to the individual if they want the heavier stuff up front.
I also change the front more often too. (call me paranoid but I did already blow up one diff) I don't think it is totally neccessary for mine but what the heck.

BTW, ANYONE can also email me at hotrodoil.com @ verizon.net (no spaces) for more info.

Just spoke to someone I know in the business and they also recommend the Amsoil. I was actually surprised since I figured it was sort of like Mary Kay or other home business where it's all hype but I guess now I gotta try it! (especially since I sort of forgot to change the rear end oil! )

Far from Hype! Amsoil continues to prove itself (through Lots of testing) as the best in the industry for lubrication products. I admit it is a multi level marketing business and it seems strange to some but regardless of that, they still make the best products. Personally I feel their biggest downfall is lack of mass advertising. They are advertising more and more in diesel mags, and motorcycle/dirt bike, etc. mags and getting a lot of business from that. Anyhow, enough rambling..... PLMK if you have any questions or would like a quote. I wouldn't run their product or be a dealer if I didn't totally believe in the product. Seriously!

Thanks! John

Hopefully next week I will start taking orders (although some have already paid  ). I got my email, website, and credit card machine up and running again, so I can take the phone orders as well again.

Finally got my cover in. Dang post office decided to wait a week and a half to let me know they had it. Anyways, here is a picture of the cover with the drain plug and countersunk holes. I don't have the stainless hardware for this one, but everyone that orders will get stainless hardware. I am painting it now, and going to install it this weekend on a libby with the new ARB in it.

How often do rear covers get trail damage? I would think you would have to back into something, or can it just come down on an obstacle. Seriously, this is an honest question.

although backing into stuff only happens occasionally, the lower lip of diff covers like this (and the crane) wont "peel up" and leak like a sieve when you drag the diff over a rock (like the thin stock one will)

Here it is all mounted up. Plenty of room between it and the gas tank skid. Stock fluid capacity is just a hair over 2 quarts. I recommend 2.25 quarts for this diff cover so you don't overfill it and start blowing fluid out the vent. This cover went on a KJ with the new ARB air locker. Plenty of room for everything, but the little tabs on the sides need to be pried down just a hair, as shown in this picture:

All mounted up (ignore the RTV squeezing out the bolt holes)

So, starting Monday, Oct 2, I will take orders for the diff covers. Give me a call to use VISA/MC. To use paypal, send $120 even to martin@rocklizardfabrications.com. Be sure to include full name, shipping address, phone number, LOST name, and year of KJ. I will take orders for the next two weeks (Oct 13), then I will place a big stock order. If I get everyones order that was already on the list before then, then I will place the order early. This will be my standard price on these, and can get them anytime, it is just much easier to do one big stock order than one cover at a time since my supplier does not drop ship.

Whats up with that exhaust? Is that the borla exhaust or something? Looks like it would get hit if it was flexing...

Yes it is a borla exhaust, and he has been lucky so far.

Stamping is way, way way too much money. Put a sticker on it.
