last time we were out there was 1 or 2 stockers that made it threw every trail we did along with the lifted ones. just make sure you have tow points and posibly skid plates.

There were three of us stockers: two Renegades and my Sport. I hit bottom a few times, but a month after that run, no problems have surfaced. I ended up with only superficial scrapes. I attribute that success to beginner's luck and excellent spotters like Mattnmette and KJ-BOL. Those guys guided me through some tricky spots.

I doubt I'll be lifted by the 10/28 run, but I'll have at least an engine skid, and possibly transfer case and transmission skids, by then.

buy miah's (jfortier777) skids in the for sale section and we can install them just before the run! I know I can get to Toledo to meet him before the run, so you wouldn't have shipping...

I really want to..I can bring mine out if I have it by that time but I doubt I'll have skids by then.

Videoguy just took advantage of a great deal before I did...!! So you didn't have that many problems w/ an unprotected (factory skids) undercarriage? This would be my first time wheeling and I'd hate to break or tear something up...yet I can't resist! I can't wait to take it out the first time after I get it!

I have a brand new tow strap & I am willing to use it to drag any stockers over boulders, up hills and through mud pits. Kj's don't have much clearance, so do yourselves a favor and get the skids and rock rails on to avoid carnage. You will have alot more fun when you are protected. :D

I'll see what I can do about the skids...sounds more like a neccessity than anything else. :P

FYI, If there is gonna be any skid installing going on at the Badlands, get the nutserts from the dealer and get them in before hand. Those things suck and can be time consuming. Should be 6 of them for you to put in.

Do you suggest I get all of them or just some front suspension and tranny skids? I don't want to have to worry about a fuel tank skid but I guess this would be one of the most important areas to keep protected!!!! Are the stock skids on the 02's any good? I'll check out Mopar's skids for the time being...if anything I can upgrade later on down the road. Thanks for the tip Pixeldzn.

Fuel Tank skid is kind of a bear to install - I wouldn't recommend doing that at the Badlands, but yes, having it is a good idea.

I'll just stick w/ the tranny and front suspension skids...I'll just have to take it really easy over the rocky areas. Bakerkj said that I'll need front and rear took hooks/clevis's. Is there anyway I can get some for the front bypassing taking off the front bumper? The rear shouldn't be a problem.

Also at a recent lift party someone (I think it was matt) showed me a bracket he made for CB Antannea/Flag to mount to spare tire rack. I wanna do the same for my rene before the Halloween run. Also a pre-trip list of things/supplies i might need for the run

We usually meet up and one of the oasises on 294 and caravan from there. Which one would me most convenient for you?

The bracket - all you do is get some angle iron, drill 2 holes to connect to the spare tire carrier bolts, and then a hole for the antenna/flag. If you are using the antenna, the gasket under the door is soft enough to let the cable pass thruy without smashing it. Real simple to do.

SunDvl took it a step further and bent the angle iron out around the tire to have more clearance for the glass, but having it tucked behind the tire works fine too.

When I had one like this, I used aluminum angle as it's easier to work with.

Well guys...after a few weeks of searching I've finally found a liberty. :P :D Just purchased a white 02' 4X4 sport w/ a tow package and pretty well taken care of for a stellar price. It's really good because I'm still in high school I'll be able to make my payments comfortably and still have money for mods. First up are the skids and light bar. Don't know if I'll be able to make it to the halloween run now because I may be participating in a 12 hour ATV race in Texas...which completely bums me out BUT I won't get the opportunity to run this race again for a long time!! It's not official yet but I'll see what happens. If not..maybe I can meet a few of you guys on a weekend down there (really close for me, less than an hour an a half) and do some wheelin'. It will be my first time so maybe it's better that I won't be at the halloween run to slow you guys down!! I'm quite stoked though...can't wait to get it on monday. :!:

Grats on your ride and with some luck (or unluck I guess), you will make the run.

Thanks Pixeldzn and KJ-BOL I will keep checking up on the site to see where everyone wants to meet up before caravaning to Indiana. And that flag bracket will come in handy....Just for an update I will be bringing my father and my totally stock Renegade, I will wheel it hard but we are also willing to be spotters and guides if my rig cant handle it anymore... PLUS I MAKE ONE HELL OF A BBQ CHEF hahaha. Im thinking that i should invest in a good set of tow/recovery straps and a new set of tires before the 28th.... And congrats also to the guy who finally got him a LIBERTY ....

Welcome to the fold, and good luck in the TX race.

Where in Indiana are you? I'm in Westfield, in between Indy and Kokomo. Badlands is about a 90-minute trip for me too, because it's all secondary roads and small towns. Not much highway to fly on.

BTW, I haven't committed to buying Miah's (JFortier) '05 skid plates yet, so they're probably still available. $140 is a good deal, but I have to get my full-size spare first, so I don't know if I'll have play money for skids this month. If I can land another freelance shoot, that will get me the cash I need. (Day job money's already spent. :? ) The Catholic school football team I videotape may may be headed to the finals. That will be a blessing because most players' parents will want those important games on DVD. A championship game could very well cover a lift kit!

Go Royals!!!

T.J.
