Anybody being told by the dealer that thier ball joints cannot be replaced as they have run out of replacements. I called today to schedule my fix and they said they will call me back in a week or so when the parts come in. Just want to see if anyone else is having this problem they say is happening all over.

On a side note, my car was in for service about 2 weeks ago and no one mentioned the recall......darn stealerships

I did have to call ahead and make sure the parts were available, but I was able to get right in and out. Sorry to hear about your luck with the sercvice center. Sometimes going there can be worse than a visit to your dentist.

Yes, the parts are on limited availability due to the demand. You can thank our wonderful news media for popping the cherry on this one before the parts system had enough stuff in stock to do the recall in an orderly fashion. So yes, we are limited on how many kits per week we can order. Best thing to do is get on the waiting list and please be patient.

It's great having someone here from "the inside."

Nice to meet you, Lanty! Thanks for the scoop.

I went to my local 5-star Jeep dealer last week to make an appointment for the recall:

DECEMBER 04 was the earliest possible day...

They told me that they do as many recalls as possible every day - so I don't know if I have to wait 2 months because of the parts limitation or because of the capacity.

I stopped into my local dealer yesterday to make an appointment and was told they didn't have the parts.
They said to check back in two weeks.

It's bizarre how different areas seem to be having an entriely different window on the parts. Here in AZ, I called them up the day after the news announced the recall, and they basically told me to name a day and time. It was done a month ago for me.

I believe some of the dealers got a jump on thngs and ordered a nice stock of the kits before they went on restriction. As a matter of fact, dealers trying to order a stock pile of things like this is normally why it goes on restriction so that DCX can do the best they can to see that they get distributed timely and evenly. Also it has to do with how many people pop in to get theirs done. Since this started we have gone from being out of stock and having a waiting list, to being caught up and having a few on the shelf and now we are back to out of stock.

Nice to meet you also, Video Guy, and you're welcome. I try to help out when I can.

I wouldn't stand for that, is there a dealership you could go to within a decent commute? I drive, sometimes, to a dealership 4 hours away to get service. I'm crazy like that . Would say better than waiting and/or being concerned for 2 months :?:

No parts at my dealership as of yet....they can't even get Bullet in to diagnose the check engine light until October 30..... I have heard tell that it could be a fuse that interrupts the cooling system and could cause the Jeep to overheat....anyone hear of this??
