If I can't find some used Moabs/MTRs in the Michigan area I'm going to bite the bullet and buy some new MTRs. I was looking out at tire rack and they list two 245-75-16 MTRs. One is $117 a tire and one is $175 a tire. What is the difference? Why is one so much more than the other?

Thanks!
Todd

One is probably a load range E tire, which is explained pretty well on tirerack IIRC. Has to do with the load the tire will bear.

They're both same specs AFAICT.

However, the $117 is "special offer" and that's what I bought to replace my existing ones. I compare them side by side and all the specs are the same ... what can I say?

The more expensive one is "outlined white letters" which is an instant-off for me. Eeew.

Thanks for the reply. That's what I was hoping. With the $40 rebate they are offering right now, that seems like a pretty good deal on those tires.

Now if I could just find some Rubicon Moab wheels!

The only real difference is that the $117 tire is black letters and the $175 is white letters. Strange isn't it. My local shop price matched tirerack for me.
