So I bought a used Mopar Renegade Roof Basket for my '02 Renny. The guy I bought it from and the directions that I found online show that the front two clamps have screws that go into the roof rails. Unfortunately on my roof rails, there are no pre-drilled inserts. People have told me that there is no drilling involved putting this style basket on but that doesn't seem to be the case. Does anyone have an '02 that put one of these baskets on? Do the '03 and '04 renegades have predrilled inserts for these screws?

Any advice is appreciated before I go ahead and drill.

It should work fine. Four clamps attach to the rails, the basket sits on the clamps and is secured with screws to the clamps.

YES! it will work fine.
I have a renny roof rack on my 03 sport. I know some one who has an 02 with an o4 renny roof rack.

Hi Tomahawk,

the holes that I had in my rails where a bit larger than the screws that are in the front hooks. My guess is that this is a secondary catch in case the clanks came loose, the basket would slide back and these screws would catch. I did not have to loosen them at all when I removed the rack.

Ken

So am I understand that all of you had these holes already since some of you got the rack when you bought the car? For those that put it on after, whether it be an '02-'04, did you drill? I'm gonna try it without drilling to see if its secure. Otherwise, I'll put in a couple holes.

Ken, parts look good. I may get something to put under the plastic to avoid abrasion.
