Okay...after inspecting my 02' libby today...I came out from under it puzzled. :?

First off I discovered this...
-My Liberty was built in September of 2001 (nothing new that I didnt know about...blah blah)

-The front left spring is NOT prelowered.....number 52088629AA and is gray in color (the tag) with a big CG on it
Now heres the confusion...
-The front right spring IS prelowered.....number 52088630AA and is purple in color (the tag) with a big CH on it
-Both rear springs are prelowered.....numbers 52088697AB and is green in color (the tag) with big CVs on them

I got the numbers on the prelowered springs on 02's

FRONT: 52088630AA 32
REAR: 52088697AB 32

So the conclusion...My KJ has 3 prelowered springs and 1 non prelowered front spring. How can this have happened??! I first inspected the front left spring and I then figured after reviewing the numbers that I had lucked out and didnt have prelowered springs...but then after checking the rest...I discovered it WAS prelowered...or atleast 3/4 of it is!!!?? :?

So my guess is...could they have prelowered it during a recall of some sort?? I know that my KJ was a leased vehicle and has only had one owner or user. So it has been through one of the ball joint recalls because there are heat shields on the front and I found this out through the seller that the recall had been taken care of...but technically is not up to date (for second rotation of recalled LBJs). Anyways...could they swapped the springs during an early recall, seeing that I have one of the first batch of libertys made?? Is this normal...something I've never heard or read about?? Somebody inform me as to why I only have 3 prelowered springs!!! Help guys

Was it ever in an accident?

This is what I'm going to find out. I don't understand how this could be a mistake. Are the dealers that bad??!
I haven't owned it for over 3 weeks yet. It rides great...have had no problems w/ it, great jeep all around. Just kinda wierd though.

WOW! I'd imagine that having different length springs in the front can alter the handling of the jeep when close to the limit. Maybe excessive body roll on hard right turns or something. All the more reason for you to do away with the mismatched stock springs and get a coil lift!! j/k

Honestly I don't really feel any hard handling in right turns or anything. Nothing noticable atleast...but I haven't beat (well not beat but drove it hard) on it yet...I drive it to school and back...took it out in the back yard a little to play around. Other than that...I've never really tried running it through turns that hard. But yea...I'm getting a Frankenlift in the near future so it will take care of this problem soon. :) I just don't understand why there's 2 different front springs?!

I would imagine prelowered is a good thing. You get the longer springs from before DC started lowering the Libbys.

Nope...no difference in the angles of the CVs. Looking at the KJ you cannot tell a difference...well it doesnt seem like you would be able to tell anyways. Whats the difference in the prelowered and lowered springs??

Also...Unixxx, I had a misunderstanding at first  ...for some reason I thought prelowered was the springs were the ones that they produced after they lowered the KJs. I now see that it's an advantage to have prelowered springs.
