marauderer,
Nice job!
Since you did the system from the turbo back, did you get
a chance to look at (?measure?) the I.D. of the turbo exhaust
outlet? Is it a true 3" I.D. ?
It didn't seem particularly mentioned here anywhere.
Please let us know.

I didn't get to measure it and it isnt 3" at the flange. It is 2.5" at the flange and we worked it out to 3" in about 1". After I get the larger injectors and possibly a larger turbo I will consider opening up the flange as much as I can up to 3". I need to talk to some turbo engineers to see if it is all benefit oy it has some side effects in drivability.

you may not see much gain off that turbo from your current setup. Remember that the turbo IS your restriction and backpressure. I would pull the flange and measure the actual output at the turbo. If it is 3in then run it bigger, if not don't bother.
If the output on the turbo is smaller than 3in you will only see very minute change in spool time and power. You would also see only a small change in pre and post turbo EGT's . The setup you have is pretty much perfect for that little turbo.

Now if you are going to drop a bigger turbo in there  that changes a LOT.

But I personally would upgrade other stuff before a bigger turbo such as a bigger/more efficient intercooler with better pipe routing.

None of that matters with out reprogramming. If you plug off the filter on the boost controler it will make all kinds of boost but with out fuel it does nothing.

but you can still upgrade the intercooler without reprogramming and still get performance gains. :P

by the way, do you have gauges yet? pre or post EGT, tranny temp, boost, stuff like that? I would go there first also.

Ditto! I would do guages at the same time or before you do anything else.

I have been waiting on TS Performance's MPD. It isn't in production for the CRD yet. I think it is available for everything else.

What kind of gauges are you running?

nothing as of right now. I am not ordering anything till my transmission "shutter" is resolved. But then it will be a pre-turbo EGT if I can tap in there if not then post turbo, trans temp and boost. Anything else I will count on the idiot lights to do thier job

I will be doing a pre turbo tap for my EGT this time. I have done it the post Turbo route and was really towing heavy and I just wasn't comfortable as seeing the pre temps. Hopefully the TSP MPD will be shipped soon.

That price may seem high, but we have to remember that this was a completely custom job. I just wish I could afford something like that :(

no-blue-screen I see in your sig you have an 06 Jetta TDI. Is that with the #2 Pkg and what is the DSG??

I am thinking seriously of getting a Jetta TDI.

Yeah, mine is a package 2 fully loaded and it has the 17" vision V wheels silver tails, spoiler, and ground effects that come with the enhanced styling package.

The DSG is 6-speed Direct Shift Gearbox...or automatic manual trans. Some have reported teh DSG actually gets better fuel economy than the 5-speed manual.

I had a wreck with it though so it is in the shop getting fixed.

Wow, that is exactly what I want. I just don't know if I am willing to ponyup for an 06. I have been debating an 03 or a PD 04 or later. Your thoughts.

I like the PD because it has a little more HP and torque. The pre PD engines have 90 hp and 155 ft lbs of torque where as the PD has 100hp and 177 ft lbs . The pre PD engines are supposedly easier to mod and they get a little better fuel economy than the PD engines. Mine averages about 42mpg on every tank running BP power-blend. Because of the new emissions and the fact that there will not be an 07 Jetta/Rabbit/NB TDI, the prices are way out of control for used ones. I may sell mine, but doubt I would be able to get what I want for it since it has been in a accident....so I will probably hold onto it. I went out to look at it on Friday and the dealership did a perfect job on the body work. Mine is Silver with anthracite leather interior. I hit into a couple of signs on the side of the road when we had all that pouring down monsoon type rain here.....hit a deep puddle and in a split second she went out of control on me. The driver airbag did deploy but none of the others. It almost looked drivable, but the collision caused the radiator to bend an bust so all the coolant came out. I was so sad when it happened, but they fixed it so good that you can't even tell it was ever hurt.

When the 2008 models come out, they will have all the new emissions and will be a common-rail setup like our Libbys...instead of the unit injection they have now.

You will never appreciate the PD unless you drive the car in Germany at autobahn speeds. These things are like rockets.
