have an 02' limited.....
one day the sun roof wouldn't retract, just open upward....then it wouldn't close all the way so i got it as close as i could...... and siliconed it just in case and pulled the fuse..... well today when i went to shut the jeep off the sun roof kept (opening1/4inch and closing 1/4 inch) after i shut the jeep off and it kept going like that for about 2 mins.... First off what the Hell.>>> I pulled the fuse for it!

anyone know what this might be? or why? rather fix it my self then sell my first born to have it fixed at the dealer...
J/k on the selling my kid though...

Have you tried putting the fuse back in and seeing if it works now? Could just be a bad switch or something?

funny thing is.... it shouldn't work without a fuse for the switch and no it didn't help......was thinking it might be a relay...and hoping not the motor

Possible the fuse you pulled only controls the retractor motor and not the up/down vent control feature?

Or maybe you think you pulled the right fuse and your fuses are in different places than you think. Took me awhile to figure that one out. My fuse block is different than any diagram Ive ever seen.

Looked at the schematic. Only one fuse for the whole motor/system. IF you pulled the correct fuse, then my guess is that someplace along the line you have a short that is somehow shunting power to the line after the fuse block. This would also account for the intermittant nature of the problem. Maybe a stripped or crushed wire making contact with the power wire aling the body or someplace you did some work?

get a continuity/VOM meter and check for current along the line from the fuse block back. You should be able to find where the short is occuring.

no over ride that i could find..... did surgery on it yesterday... dealer wanted $90 to look at it and said they had 2 fix it if they tore into it...... so at home i tried to remove the head liner.."DON'T" it doesn't come out all the way..... but u can take the sun roof out from the inside....

i'm guessing the right track is wanting to pop up, as the left is wanting to retract...... after 3 hours i got them to meet up and get it closed all the way...... thats good enough for me now.... till taxes roll in to have it fixed.....
also if u do leave it cracked, there are drain tubes up there, to keep water from spilling over in to the inside....
