I'm not exactly sure on this (that's why I'm asking), but I heard the CRD's weren't offered in California so in order to bring them in they need to have a certain number of miles to qualify as a used vehicle. Can anyone confirm/reject this? Thanks.

Greg

That is correct. I think the mileage is ~ 7500 but you can check with DMV. There have been used CRD's for sale in CA and they were advertised as "Rare".

Yep, It's 7500 miles. I bought mine used in Dallas last month for this very reason.

Yep, 7500. I brought mine in via CarMax with 8,000 miles.

Good luck.

This is the rule for all states that follow the CARB regulations. There is also an additional requirement that many people do not know about. The vehicle also has to have been registered or in-service for at least 6 months. All 2005 models should fit that bill, but if someone has a 2006 you want to make sure they have owned it for at least 6 months or else you still won't be able to register it in Cali.

Also there was a gentleman in CA that was having a problem getting someone to work on his rig as no one had been sent to class for a nonexistent rig.

Hey most Jeep dealers don't have a qualified diesel tech on the payroll, because they have never had a diesel before. However ifd it is a Dodge & Sprinter dealership they will have qualified techs. I would only have one serviced at one of those type of dealers, otherwise you will most likely have a small problem made into a major one.

I went to my local Glendale CA Jeep dealer first. They said they don't work on diesels, but that I should go to the Dodge dealer down the street. Then, of course, the Dodge dealer down the street said they work on diesels, but not Jeeps, and that I should go to the Jeep dealer. When I told them that the Jeep dealer just sent me to them, they basically politely told me I was screwed. Luckily, another Jeep dealer in the area (Van Nuys) has a diesel qualified tech! I haven't made use of him for much yet, but so far so good!
