If it weren't so soon I could maybe talk the parents into it. But that terrain looks like it requires some taller tires, a lift, and some boulder bars if anything. Pretty sure the stockers could navigate it, but it'd be tricky!

Dont say that! I dont have and rocker rails.. :(

Wow, what can I say? I couldnt wait till next weekend so i went and had a sneak peak.. This place is awesome!!! its nothing but a HUGE rock on the top of a mountain. I got into some fairly crazy stuff(about the same as slade) and I did just fine. I guess that extra lift from the clevis and the tires really helps.. I saw some guys up there from Cincinnati in some CJ's riding around.

I CANNOT WAIT TILL NEXT WEEKEND!!! :D

Are we going to do it the same as we did slade with the food? Bring whatever you want to eat?

There are so many forks and different roads up there its not funny.. I guess thats why those guys form kykrawlers told me NOT to go alone..

KJ-BOL and I are thinking of coming down. Gotta see what family obligations there are first.

We'd be driving down Fri Night until about midnight, finishing the drive n Sat AM, wheeling all day Sat, and driving home Sunday.

Hope we can make it happen! Maybe it will help SunDvl's decision as well!

If you guys go (pixeldzn & KJ-BOL), it will definitely influence my decision. I was considering camping Saturday night and driving home leisurely Sunday...

Gosh that would be great! This may turn out to be one really nice run... :D

I wish anything I would of had my camera today guys. I just do not believe you all understand how awesome this place it. This is some INSANE wheeling. There seems to be bypasses by all the hard stuff so thats good. The rocks are amazing.. They tower over the trail and only the most hardcore jeep could make it up them. It reminded me of pics Ive seen from MOAB.. Gosh im so excited!

Those guys in the CJ's were amazed I would take something like that offroad. They said it was to nice to be doing something like that in..

I will be staying at the Econo Lodge (KY412) in Richmond, KY ($39.99) on Friday. It will be a 3.5 hour drive from Indy and I plan on leaving at about 4pm. I will just eat before leaving or grab some fast food on the trip down (need to try to keep the cost down).

Jeepjeepster, did you happen to scout out a gas station or something in Livingston or Mt Vernon that has free air so we dont have to drive too far aired down? I know a few ppl have portable compressors so we might not need it but it sure helps when we can get air close. I will look around the Richmond exit when I get there but that is about a 40 min drive to Livingston.

I didnt even think about it scienceguy.. There is a gas station right at the beginning of the trail and gas was only $2.05(didnt look for air). Its $2.19 in richmond. It was kinda run down looking though, had tons of people around it.

We wont be coming out where we go in anyway. We will be coming out about 20-30min south on 75. Ive never been down there so I dont know anything about gas stations down there. If you know any of the roads down there, we will be coming out on 80.. Aorund Somerset..

I probably wont air down anyway. I didnt fine at Slade without airing down and that was on stock tires.. If it gets really rough I may air down on the trail somewhere..

Sry you cannot come SunDvl.. At least you have a good reason!!

Ohh, you know I live in Richmond, right?

UPDATE

Location: Exit 49 off I-75
There is a truck stop right off the exit called the 49er. The start of the trail is only a few yards away. We will air down/gas up and hit the trail from there.
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q ... =1&iwloc=A

Time: 0930 EST
I want to get started early due to limited number of daylight hours we have this time of year.

Unfortunately, tomorrow looks to be rainy and wet most of the day as the cold front pushes through. The terrain is kind of sandy in places and drains well so it shouldn't be a mud bog, but it will definitely be wet.

What is every ones thoughts on tomorrow? I'm up for it as much as I despise rain and any kind of mud. But I want to hear everyone thoughts so I don't end up with all last minute cancellations.

so, what are the weathermen saying down there? looks like an 80% chance of rain, but it's tough to get a solid estimate of how much.

Jackson, KY is the county.

From the NWS
Quote:
Short term (tonight through Saturday night)...high pressure ridging
up The Spine of the Appalachians has provided a clear day over the
Bluegrass state. A surge of low-level moisture heading north across
the arklatex is the first indication of a developing storm system
which will begin to affect the region Friday night and Saturday.
Low-level winds will freshen later tonight and on Friday with
increasing isentropic lift resulting in an increase in middle and high
clouds during the day. The front will approach late Friday night and
cross through the forecast area Saturday morning based on latest
guidance...with what will likely be a narrow band of showers and
perhaps a thunderstorm. Quantitative precipitation forecast amounts should remain light as
precipitable water values only briefly increase to around an
inch...but expect most areas to receive rainfall thus will raise probability of precipitation
to high likely or categorical following GFS guidance closely. Skies
will then clear Saturday night as high pressure builds back in
although low-clouds may be a little stubborn and slow to clear during
the evening.

I really don't think it is going to be too bad. A lot of the stuff looks like sandstone which literally grips like sandpaper. Last time I did Slade with JasonK it rained about 1" the two nights before and was still drizzling at times, my campsite was partially flooded. However it even then it wasn't really bad, not much mud or that slippery.

As long as it is not a down pour the entire time I think it will be a good run.

Alright cool. As long as I have one other person to hit the trails with, I'm a go.
