Got any pics of the front flexed? How much space is between the upper control arm and the coil itself?

Springs have nothing to do with upper control arm contacting the coil (unless the coil is unusually thick or something). Its all about how far the suspension droops which is controlled by the length of the strut assembly.

When you add a spacer outside the strut assembly (top plate, OTT, etc) you increase the length of the strut assembly and can cause problems with the control arm contacting the spring. The example listed above, he does have a top strut plate.

Springs don't control how much it droops.

I just looks like the arm is right up against the coil in the pics of his KJ parked. Obviously during droop it moves down and in so I just wanted to see how that looks when he had it flexed out. The coil does affect the upper control arm because a longer coil moves the entire geometry of the stock suspension further down from it's original position, unless you lower the arm's mounting points. As the control arm goes down, it goes in, towards the coil. People with lifts only have upper balljoint contact because of their lifts changing their suspension geometry, whether it's with spacers or new coils.

Yes, but if you stay with the stock shock length (no clevis or top plate), your ball joint should not contact the spring. Droop will pretty much be limited by the shock length.

You could only lift it and stay with stock shocks by doing a spacer lift. This still moves the entire coil assembly down and puts the upper control arm closer to it. Droop would be limited by shock length, but that's really bad for any shock unless you get droop bumpstops (if that's even possible). It doesn't matter how you lift it, if you lift it, it brings the stock UCAs closer to the coils.

Question for you - you calculated the spring rates - there are heavier than OME - are they heavy enough to support the ARB and a winch?

Considering they would be the heaviest on the KJ market today, i'd say yes, but I havent got a winch so I cant say for sure. I do have a steel TJM Bar on the front, but the TJM is cirtainly lighter than the ARB one, maybe 20kgs at most.

I dont think Kings operate that way mate, you'll all get the same price regardless of quantity - they are a manufacturer.

You missed the point. You save on shipping, not the cost of the springs.

Sorry champ, it just sounded like they meant the purchase price - not that I care, not my bank account !!

As for shipping, go your hardest !!

Manufacturer or not, there are always setup costs on machinery. Depending on how much these costs are, quantity should matter at some point. Whether we can hit that point is another question.

FYI - as an aside - King said they've had several requests for KJ springs and they would be interested in working with a US dealer so I forwarded the email to All J's. I'm hoping they can work a deal.
I think it would be great if OzLtd has figured a way to make a real CRD Frankenlift....

Me too mate. I'm 100% satisfied so far.

I got some feedback today on an 04 LTD CRD stock ride height:

460mm front, 475mm rear CTR of Wheel to Guard remember (Kings only work with CTR of wheel to guard, not rim to guard)

If this is the case, the lift I have worked out would equate to a 4" lift front and 3.25" rear so round that off to a square 3.5" lift.

I hope the guys at Kings work out a dealer in the States, it would be good for you guys.

Bump.

OzLtd, could you please give all the specifications of your lift? What struts are you running? Any spacers? Any clevis lifting? etc. Both for the front and rear.

Much appreciated, GilaMonster

If we ever get the Gibson RM snorkel for the KJ, I will drive over and pick them up :D

It would not be that hard to find someone stateside to make springs to specific specs. I think I am going to wait and save up to have some coilovers built with adjustable collars...probably in the SPRING ( pun intended ). I want to do the Coilovers front and rear...
