I'd like to see that P code :-) Wouldn't mind it just to see the tech's reaction. But you raise an interesting question. Does the odometer reading stay in the ECU or elsewhere? Might be a bit of a problem if you come in with 20K fewer miles than the last visit, on the same VIN...

As for messing with the dealer - one could fabricate a bracket for the 2nd ECU, and put both ECU's in next to each other - but the 2nd one would only have a dummy connector on it. Install a big red handled copper A-B thow switch and label the ECU's "Primary and Backup".

If only one could videotape this setup at the dealership when getting the TSB de jour. You could always tell them you throw the ECU switch to Backup when the jumping/bucking/shuddering starts and that stops it. Then tell them an out of town dealer installed the 2nd ECU as part of the latest TSB flash update :-)

I love it :D I think a big red button on the dash thats conspicuosly labeled "Data Dump" would peek their interest as well, maybe hook up a USB socket right below it.

Now that you have your ECU reprogrammed by the aftermarket, what would happen if say, you took your jeep in for service at the dealer, and they reflashed the ECU or upgraded the firmware? Would you then loose your aftermarket parameters and have to pay to have it remodified again? This is something that I am concerned about, as I am seriously considering this mod.

I believe in one of the earlier posts, the US rep said if you purchase at full retail, you get lifetime reflashing and programming tweaks. So if the dealership reflash for a TSB and change some custom parameters you can send it back to Inmotion and they will restore the customizations. If you get the Ebay deal, you get 30 days.

I guess this might be one way around the fault code log. I reread most of the thread, but I'm still unclear. Can InMotion program a blank ECU from scratch if somebody wanted to go that route?

Sent that previous post while driving back from Thanksgiving vacation.

I've been 1000 miles since getting the tune. Sent it off to GH on Monday and needed it back no later than Thursday which is when it returned. I did worry a bit just cause it's risky being without the "wifes" car!

Reinstalled the ECU and heres the results:

Went with the Stage 2, mileage is about the same 20-24 but I've been puttin my foot into it.

Raised rev limiter: I can hear it spool up with a little fuel in park.

Power is touchy, studder/shudder is prominent with increased torque, just have to feather the fuel a bit until I replace this POS torque converter with a real one.

Very happy with the results.

Bump for updates:

Still happy with it Mike?

Got Diesel,

If I remember right you already have the F37 recall? I'll be curious to see how that and the INMotion tune play together. Keep us posted.

I wish somebody would try the "Ecotune." It is supposed to increase mileage and power, just not as much power as stage 2. Also, I was wondering if they open the ECU when they do the tuning? If they do, it seems like that would be very detectable by the dealer if there is a tamper seal especially.

I would like to see someone try this one myself.

How much of an increase in mileage is estimated for the "Ecotune"

It's well worth the wait and money! ECU is a breeze to R&R as well.

Let me preface this by saying that I am quite happy with the power/torque of my stock '05 CRD with recent F37 recall completed.

The Inmotion chip update implies it could prolong the life of my still functioning EGR AND offer better fuel mileage. I can see how the EGR can be functionally bypassed, so I'm down to considering the mpg improvement that I could achieve. What's the real story on that?

One concern. Is the increased torque of the Inmotion chip flash likely to result in torque converter failure? The F37 reflash is said to reduce the engine torque to prevent future damage. Would increasing the engine torque far beyond its original spec. overtax the newly installed, revised torque converter?

If I could improve mpg significantly, I'd be tempted to do the upgrade... even realizing that it meant I had to restrain the temptation to punch the throttle too much.
