Well, there you go. It looks like the KJ may be your happy median. Have you looked at Toyotas? I like the FJ Cruiser and Toyotas are great vehicles that really keep their value. They have a strong following as well. If you're looking at used vehicles, you might also consider a WJ, my wife loves hers. Heck, you might even find a late model XJ in great condition with very low mileage at a very good price. Hope everything works out. Good luck.

'03's got the 4 wheel disc brakes (at least mine did). Thank god too, because we had an '02 with drums and it was horrible.

Better transmission for wheeling in the 02's and very early 03's. They changed the rear seat I think on the 04's or 05's. Not sure which one. The newer ones fold flatter. They still fold down in the same manner, they got the space by removing some of the cushioning.

I do like them. I just dont know if i would be happy in one. I think after my discount and rebate I could get into one for around 26000 which is what the JK would cost me also. I would rather go with the removable top and doors over the look at me I need attention so I bought a hummer thing.

I just found an 06 liberty sport for sale for 16990 with 12200mi. it has all the standard pwr features and an auto in it and is 4wd sounds like a better deal to me than the new 07 for 23000 with the same features.

What you guys think?

According to Kelley Blue Book (www.kbb.com), here are the values for a 2006 Jeep Liberty Sport, 3.7L, Auto, 4WD with 12,200 miles in "excellent" condition for zip code 63105 (St. Louis, MO).

Suggested Retail - $22,000
Trade-in Value - $14,825
Private - $18,350

Please double check the figures, but I guess for $16,990 it doesn't sound too bad. With 12K miles it should still be covered under the factory warranty.

That 06 doesnt sound like a bad price then. The same dealer has an 03 sport with 33000mi for 12900. After seeing the prices on used I dont think I will go with a new one.

I would go with used. We bought the CRD new, but only because we couldnt find any used ones for sale. Let someone else take the depreciation hit. If you can find one with a warranty still on it-great. Get an 06, the ESP is a nice thing and could save your life. Not to mention it is kind of like having a limited slip diff in the front AND back.

I wouldn't buy the new wrangler untill they put an engine in it, the 3.9 mini van engine is a dog in the lowend torque department, I don't know why they just didn't use the 3.7 or new 4.0 v6. The kj will go any where the jk will, except if you want to climb over Jeffersons nose on MT. Rushmore or something. The kj is plenty rugged, but also very family friendlly and comfortable. They look mean with a 2.5" lift and a set of 245/75-16 bfg ko's on them, throw on a roof basket and some hella's and your ready for a jungle sufrai with the kids. Also it's not a good idea to buy the first year of a new design, let them get the bugs worked out. I just can't get my arms a round the jk, thier trying to make it look like a hummer, I like the old steel fendered tj and yj's btter, but thats me.
