I want to thank Tokyo Joe/Troyster for reponding to my post--Remembering 4 years ago in the General Discussion forum. I was watching cnn while the planes hit and the buidlings tumbled down on Sept 11-4 years ago. Would defently say life changing moment for me.

Amazing so simple of a post to relieve somethings I need to say (probably for the rest of my life) for rememberence of lives lost-continue to be LOST. To what led to politcial turmoial for the last 4 years. Get taken so much out of context and blown out of proportion.

Ron

Yup. I still can't think about it without my eyes watering. I don't know if life in
America will ever be the same again. If nothing else, it increased my respect and appreciation for our military, law enforcement, firefighters, and other first responders, and I think we grew together as a nation.

I was just finishing my shower at work on the base when a coworker said a plane hit one of the towers. I thought a small plane like others thought. When I went into our classroom, I was shocked. I sat there for two hours in shock and then the base shut down and said all non-essential personnel go home. I was off work for three days. When I got home, I turned the TV on and kept watching for hours upon hours in total shock.

Last night, Discovery Channel ran a special on Flight 93. I had a tear in my eye as I watched family talk and listedn to the actual phone coversations.

I do worry that our country will get complacent again. I had Air National Guard weekend and we went to do a Patriot Day gathering for Retreat (lowering of the flag at the end of the work day, for those of you that don't know what it is) and some of my fellow Guardsman were busy complaining about having to stand out in the sun for 30 minutes. I had to remind them that they are alive and able to stand in the heat, while those innocent people can no longer do that.

I responded to Ron's post with my story too. As most of you know, I don't normally comment during political debates but for some reason that thread got under my skin. Ron, if you like me to delete my post in that thread, PM me, I won't have a problem doing that.

Over here, that day just slipped by just like any other day. No one said anything about it.

Pete, that is sad to hear. I can't believe there was no message or gathering to remember those that died on 9/11, over there.

I feel that Patriot Day should be made a special national holiday. Perhaps move Labor Day to Sept 11 and change the holiday name. Labor Day celebrates workers and most of those killed were at work.

I reposted on the link...only one driving force on the message it is not you or me!! That day really hit me hard while watching it on CNN. I went to a my church's 24 hour chapel, made my peace, and didn't know what was going to happen where I worked at--2 weeks later, jobs where in question, and business flushed down the toilet. Company survived and I am glad.
