The wife and I are going Saturday to look at Honda Element 4x4 (weather may be a factor as snow is now in forcast) and if she likes it and we get the price we want for the Jeep, we will own our first Honda with 4 wheels.
This may be none too soon, depending on what happens to D/C. Wish that Honda and others had a car like the LX series cars from Chrysler
How's this for Karma - I traded in my very reliable, fun, and VERY useful 2004 Galapagos Green Honda Element EX for this Jeep. What a long term loss of money this has turned out to be. I had the perfect fleet - a Toyota and a Honda - but I wanted to give the American car makers 1 last chance and I was swayed by the diesel.
The Element had a factory 270 watt stereo - best factory system I'd ever heard. The 4x4 engaged seamlessly in the snow and ice automatically, and after the little 4 banger was broken in, it really hauled booty. My son still asks me where his Element car went... I had a nice bruch guard, bug shield, and tail light guards on it and what really sucks is that the resale value today (18 months later) is still the same as what I traded it in for.
A Honda is like money in the bank - I'd say go for it! My ONLY problem with the Element was that the total cargo capacity was only 675lbs. After my accessories it was down to about 500lbs. After fuel, about 400lbs. I weigh about 300lbs, so the GVWR of the Element was exceeded whenever I had any other people in it, let alone cargo. It still drove fine, just was over the numbers all the time...
