UNIXXX,

Well in that thread you said that in order to use my FACTORY emissions equip. I'd need the same PCM and such. But what's to stop me from putting on a complete new system, whether it be JTEC or NGC?

KY,

Well i'm not gonna just leave it as a 4.7. I'm gonna bore it as big as i can. I know there are 350s out there that will make 700+HP. So i figure 500 is an attainable number in something around 300-320CI. Especially since i'll be going with the best of everything that i can find. Forged everything, new cams, new crank, maybe new or re-worked heads with bigger valves. Full custom, dual exhaust (i have WAY to many ideas on how to route this). Etc, etc. i doubt i'll be putting down 500HP, but i'd like to get at least that at the crank.

The problem is that the emissions equipment has to be from the same vehicle year or later. I'm pretty sure all Libertys after mid 2002 use NGC and only the NGC controller knows how to control the NGC compatible emissions equipment.

Gotcha. OK, well i'll have to see how i can find out which system i have, that will narrow my search a bit.

The JTEC controllers have three connectors and the NGC controllers have four.

JTEC it is. That would make things better for me correct? Because that would mean i could use JTEC or NGC since the JTEC is standard and the NGC is newer.

Check to see if you have a seperate TCM on the other side. If you do, you have the 45RFE. That is good for going with the 4.7. With a torque converter and shift kit, it should be able to handle the 500 hp too.

Well fellas, i guess this makes me one luck man. Looks like i've got the JTEC and the 45RFE. I was planning on a shift kit anyway, so i guess i'll just go ahead with that. I want the $105 kit from B&G Chrysler right? And would that be something i could install myself, i like to think i'm pretty good with my hands, i just don't work on cars too much. I just haven't had the opportunity. So i work on R/C cars insted

Tell me if these are the controllers i think they are...

You can do a happy dance. :D

You'll want the Transgo 45RFE-HD2 Reprogramming Kit and an APS torque converter, along with programming from B&G. Here's a link to the instructions on installing the shift kit.

Now, if i send out my PCM to be programmed by B&G, will it still work with the 4.7L? I mean, i'm already doing a happy dance, but that would make my week!!!  :D

I would think you would need the PCM of the 4.7, but you would want to talk to B&G about that. Sounds like you're going to need a custom flash anyway. Send your current PCM to them. You'll like what they do to it. Makes your other mods actually work.

Since there's no TCM in the JTEC PCM, wouldn't that mean all JTEC Libertys have a seperate TCM on the other side? Do all Libertys with the JTEC controller have the 45RFE? :?

Yeah, well, i wouldn't have any reservations at all about that, if i had the $450 to spend. lol.

Which brings me to my next point. If anyone here has anything they can contribute to help me out, whether it be a place to find good parts, some good tips, manpower to lend, or even the green stuff, i'd greatly appreciate whatever you care to lend. I'll probably be starting a website for this at some point in the future. I'll be sure to keep you guys posted.

Well now you know  The KJ for KJers, by KJers...But in all seriousness i was thinking about setting up a site strictly for the KJ where all the companies that i use could buy advertising space. But i wouldn't just limit it to big time companies. Companies like PixelDecals.com, HotRodOil.com, etc. Any and all of you guys out there who have your own businesses I'd love to have your support, whether it's money, parts or wrench time, all could be put towards advertising space. I'll obviously be putting most of the money into this rig out of my own pocket, but hey, anything i can get donated or whatever is great. Depending on how well it goes, i might even be able to use some of the revenues to pay for my education or what-not. But right now it's all just ideas. But don't think you won't see anything for your money. Not only will you have been a part of the build, but i was thinking of some kind of cool way to honor all the people who helped me out on the final project. And throughout the project, updates will be posted up and such, and i'll make sure everyone gets something out of it. I'm even thinking of setting up some kinds of cool things to do with the Jeep for certain goals that i meet. For example, crushing a car at $10,000, or putting together a ride for free at $20,000. Again, all just ideas right now.

My father owns a 2002 V8 Laredo 4.7 - i'll measure the engine bay components when I next see him, should be within the next 7 days.

Yeah, ideally i'd like to pick up a totaled Ram for cheap, but if not, a 4.7L short-block will have to do, i can worry about the PCM and such later.

I dunno if this helps, but fastenall is selling all of their dodge ram's for approx $10-15K

All of them appear to be autos, 2wd, but maybe that will help?
