Columbia edition?

Nope...pete has a Colombia and it's got the curvy hood, plus the Colombia was before the flat hoods showed up on the Renny. It could have been a debadged Renny. Maybe it was part of an option group at some point? I know that someone did a front end swap for the Renny styling a little while back-maybe it was theirs?

Prob a rocky.
Like the guy up there said, its 100% opinion, the main reasion i like my flat hood is just because i dont see it all the time, and some people think its a custom.

D'oh...thats what I was thinking, rocky mtn edition. There is one (at least what I believe to be) running around campus around here. Don't know why I thought Columbia edition....sorry!

I noticed the flat hood on the 05'+ Renny's when I started looking at buying my KJ, and I hated the look of it! I then searched specifically for 02'-04' models and found my 04' with the nice curvy hood. :D

IMO....the curvy hood makes the older KJs...the "real" Liberty!! 8)

But to each his own. I love the curvy look and I can see really well. Personal choice I suppose.

i LOVE the flat hoods! but i also dont mind my curvyhood

i got in an accident a few months ago, box truck pulled in front of me and i slid into the side of him. completely his fault. i shoulda had them replace the hood and grill with the flat version

it was $3600, they replaced the:
hood
grill
ac condensor
bumper cover
steel bumper
hood latch assembly

it definitely is the rocky mountain edition, that's what i have, flat hood....it's a stripped down renegade actually, almost "streeted" if you will...no fogs, no skids, no hooks, but.....it has a moonroof! :D also, the flares are body color like the limiteds.....so, there is your answer!

I think the flat hood was only available on 05 & 06 Renegades or Rocky Mountain Editions.

I want to thank Rusty the Scoob For making me unhappy with my hood and grill. Until this thread was started I never knew that the other hood existed. Now I have to put another thing on my list of future mods.  I see a Jeep every day with the flat hood.

I prefer the curved hood to the flat one. I think the flat hood makes it look like a Liberty is pretending to be a Wrangler. The "bug-eyes" of the standard hood is what makes a KJ look like a KJ in my opinion. In fact when I bought my Rene in late 2005 I compared the two styles and prefered the old one, so I bought an 02. I'm also still not a big fan of the bumper redesign, but the rock rails and 6 speed were definitely improvements. Here they are side by side (or is it up and down)

I like the looks of the flat hood. But after driving one I liked the visibilty of the curvy one. Plus the CRD wasnt available as a renegade. If it was it would have been a tough choice.

The visibilty is a non issue, you only use a few feet infront of you, and anything that close, you have allready hit. I love my flat hood, and my friends with the curvy want to mod theirs over, i dont know if they can tho. Well it is just personal preference. I think the flat hood looks more like a classic jeep.
