So I rarely get any time off, so I decided to spend my partial day off cleaning the Jeep and preping it for next weekends lift. I drive through a lot of mud, sand, and dirt, so i started off going under the rig to clean up a bit. I got about 4-5 lbs of crud out!!!!!! Most came from that triangular skid thingy in front of the font diff. I was scooping out handfulls of dirt. There was even caked dirt inside the cross member and near the upper A-arm mounts.

After that I decided to wash the rig and clean the inside a bit, took pre-lift measurements.. Then had a beer. :D Miller Time

Theeeeeeeeeeen I started wondering how the new rims and tires would look/fit on the stocker. So I grabed one, took it over to the garage and...

That is a 235/70 in the back and a 245/75 in the front. This is when i went back to the house to get the rest.
Image

Here it is with the MT/Rs mounted on the passengers side...big difference. The jack is not supporting the rig at all.
Image

Image

All mounted up I get rubbing on the pinch weld and front fascia at 1 and 3/4 turns of the steering wheel. I think I will leave these on till next weekends lift, just making sure to take nice wide turns.

I drove to the gas station to set the psi at 35 on the tires, the road noise and noise on my driveway (1.5 mile dirt) is much louder than the previous crappers. But I like the hummmmmmmmm.

Here is the finished product...245/75 on a stocker!

yes that is a longhorn in the background. we have about 20 on the ranch...stupid animals

Looks great! I bet those tires could fit on there with some trimming and beating of that pinch seem. 8)

OT: Do you have the weaker Dana35 rear axle? :? They were kinda rare. :)

It could just be the angle that Im looking at it. The 8.25's had a flat bottom and the dana 35's had a round bottom.

Doesnt that look round? :?

Maybe Ive been studying to much? Stupid school.

I stay away from the mud like the black plague  !Really I wash my KJ every sunday no matter what and spend about $20-$30 at the carwash, most of which is on the under carriage. Also I undercoated my whole under carriage, that helps alot.

TJKJ..i can't avoid mud...my drive way is 1.5 miles of dirt...when it rains....its mud!!! Fun, but not good for keeping clean. I may coat the bottom someday to help avoid rust and all that, i guess it would help keep things clean too.

jeepjeepster....no problem...i was just wondering how in the heck you saw that....i was squinting as hard as possible to try and determine flat or round!!!!!

FWIW, I have a 2003 Liberty, and on my driver side, the rear axle has a sticker on it reading "Corporate 8.25." You should have some kind of sticker, unless it's been scraped or peeled off.

Nice tire and wheel combo!

Yes they rub at 1 and 3/4 turn of the wheel at the pinchweld and front wheel well liner. There would be no rubbing of the pinch weld if it were pounded. But I'm going to wait for the lift to see if that fixes it. Not sure if the lift will fix the front rubbing, but we will see before I start pounding and cutting

here is another thing to consider with the bigger tires and no lift. I had one of my clients dads get stuck in the sugar sand near where i work. so i had to tow him out. I dug in twice and the rears stuffed up. They don't stuff very much casue they are much wider, had some pretty bad rubbing....thats where the lift comes into play!!! But i definately can't complain about how they performed, never would have gotten him out with the old bridgestones.
