Wheel Spacers

Does anyone know if the 1.25" wheel spacers kill fuel milage? I have been thinking about picking up the RRO spacers, but my fuel is already pretty low with the 255 R16 tires.

Wheel spacers would not make any difference whatsoever, they do not effect power distribution or the overall diameter of the tyre hence no change in fuel consumption should be recognised.

There is a chance of reduced mileage if the tire stick out past your fender flares

Technacally it may if they stick out past the fender flares. I have heard rumors that it puts more stress on everything, but i dont know if those are true, dealers will chew anayone out who dares mess with a car themselves. I cought hell for mentioning that i was consitering the Frankenlift.

Spacers and wheels with less backspacing will probably put more stress on components because their longer lengths increase leverage. Although, I've had my Spidertrax WHS-002 1.25" spacers for 1-1/2 years now without any problems. Be sure to use Loctite with the Rocky Road Outfitters spacers as they don't appear to come with any. I'd personally recommend the Spidertrax if you can find them in-stock somewhere.

bahh, it would be (if at all) so minute that it would probably be unmeasureable - anyway thats just my opinion.

I seem to recall discussion of this before, can't find the thread offhand but it related to additional "unsprung weight"... not sure what the implications would be?

Thanks for the input. I use it mostly for the freeway which is why I asked, but I have taken it on some trails that I would have prefered a wider wheel base.

An increase in unsprung weight will reduce handling, but four aluminum spacers don't weigh much in comparison to other hub components. I haven't noticed much difference in handling and installed mine mostly to eliminate rubbing.
