I installed Rancho struts in the front and the shocks in the back. I don't have a lift, and the front struts are floating as if they were bad. I know on other cars I have had when the front floats after hitting a bump the struts are bad. When I say float I mean that the front bounces a few times after hitting a bump, and they are not stiff at all. I was told that the Rancho's would be good if I wanted a stiffer feel, so I went with those. Are they supposed to only be used with a lift??

I not familiar with the Rancho struts or shocks but I think I read somewhere on here that someone installed them upside down and they got that effect. Good luck!

The struts can only be installed one way.

I just contacted Amazon.com, and they are sending me replacement struts. They were the cheapest place I found and I called and within 5 minutes the had already sent me an email saying that they would replace them and I would have to send back the other struts.

For any strut to not dampen on the highway is never good.. I'm glad that Amazon was quick to get back to you about the problem though.

It could have been a manufactuing defect or just a bad part that caused it.

Would be crazy if both the shocks were bad from the get go.. And yes, if you install the rear shock upside down, they will not dampen. :)

I started to think of that. Could it be caused if I didn't compress the springs enough, or tighten the nut on the stem of the strut enough? What I 'm thinking is that if the spring is not compressed enought it would probably cause the ride to be bouncy. I'm going to work on it tomorrow anyways because I'm getting a really loud squeak from the dust boot, and I will try compressing the springs some more.

By the way if anybody has a set of stock springs and struts intact and is able to measure the stock spring height from the bottom of the spring to the top(strut plate). I think I measured mine at 10.5" but I'm not sure because I measured so many things.

I found out the problem and it wasn't the front struts. I was using Daystar upper strut plates and they allow the spring to expand more than normal, because they are meant to be used with a spacer or longer spring. I was using the stock spring and the upper strut plat was not keeping the spring compressed when I would hit a bump in the road. I did one side and it feels good. The ride is still bouncy because the other side is not done yet, so I think my problem is solved.

Thank you everybody for all your advice
