Yesterday, the ECL light turned on in my KJ.

Performed the switch on-off-on-off-on sequence to get the error code and got the P0116 code.

Reviewing the forum, found the code means:

Engine coolant temperature circuit range/performance problem

Someone has any idea of what does that mean?

My KJ is under 7yrs./100,000 Kms warranty, can I get this fixed by the dealer under this warranty?

Thanks in advance to all of you guys.

Could be the engine temperature sensor. Its on the top of the engine in front of the intake manifold.

Could be under the powertrain warranty, although I doubt it is. :?

Thanks Jeepjeepster,

Today refilled the gas tank and the ECL turned off.

Still I don't figure out the relation between "Engine coolant temperature circuit range/performance problem " and fuel but the light turned off and hope it stays that way.

Anyway, if it turns on again I'll take it to the dealer and claim for guarantee.

Regards

Unless its something major with the powertrain(IE, waterpump, tranny, something in the engine), I wouldnt believe it would be covered.. It all depends on what the problem is though.

Have you sprayed the engine off or anything? Ive got a code saying "bad temp sensor" when I sprayed mine off and it went off after it all dried out. .. Been offroading?
