If you need a Fumoto oil drain valve for the CRD (and the associated adapter), please answer this poll.

There has to be a sufficient number of people still interested to make the economics of making the adapter worthwhile.

Any ideas what a "sufficient number" is?

I have asked Greg but he has not yet responded. I'll try again.

More adapters have been ordered and it will be 5-6 weeks before I have them. I'm willing to bet that only half of those that said they want one will actually order one. Been there and have seen it happen.

Greg:

How should interested people reserve a valve?

Or will you just announce that they have arrived, and have it be first come, first served?

Will be first come first serve. To much of a mess to hang onto orders for that long. Will post when they are in.

Methinks that a few people discovered that they can't REALLY "trust" the dealership with the CRD, and after one or two oil changes spilling oil all over - we're ready to buy the Fumoto.

:)

I was around the original lot. I thought - why all the fuss? I am running 10k OCI, so with as infrequent as I need to it is no problem to just use the stock.

But after two changes, burning myself on hot oil, not getting the collector exactly where the drain comes out, oil all over the garage floor, etc etc - I decided. I need a G*^%AMN fumoto valve.

:)

If you are on the fence, I recommend you buy one as I have watched my oil pan strip, get tapped and stripped again by the dealership. Between various costs of tapping and then replacing the oil pan I am out about $900. I have a Fumoto now (if I didn't I would be beating Greg's door down to get one) and I can only wish I had done it earlier.

I tried but it was too far up in the skid to get a good picture, I don't see how you could ever damage it with a skid plate on. Maybe if you were rock crawling and dragged the skid over a rock just right or the skid bent you get the valve then, but then if you are rock crawling you won't or should not be using the OEM skid plate. There is really no way you will ever damage the valve in normal off roading, unless you are just trying to screw the vehicle up.

Just bumping this to the top to keep the interest high for the pending fumoto availability.

Talked with the machine shop today, the Fumoto adapters are being started tosay. So in about a week or 10 days we should have them. Much faster than normal because he had a lot of my other things ready to ship and he wanted to do it all at once.

Sounds like good stuff. How much does the needed hardware cost? How do I get it?

Great news - I was just looking at the maintenance log last night figuring out how soon the next oil change will be. I think the timing will be just right.
