By chance were you pulling a trailor? I had something like this happen when I was pulling a trailer. Took the CRD in thinking that the CEL was due to a recently changed EGR. As it turns out, there is a TSB #18-038-05 Rev.A for a the P0504 (Brake Switch Plausibility with Redundant Contact) Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) that might be the cause.
The DCX recommended fix for it unfortunately is to flash (reprogram) the ECM. I do not recommend this unless you have already had F31 or F37 done. Otherwise, there will probably be a performance drop in your CRD. See the

BTW, you do not need an ECM flash to clear this problem if it is the same one I had. I would consider getting the CEL cleared and seeing if it returns again.
