:D Yeah! The CRD is keeping my wallet happier, MUCH better mileage with summer blend 24mpg city 28+ hwy. USDL is between $2.99 and $3.05 So it's cheaper than Mid Grade & Premium here right now, but not RUG quite yet... Have already scene a couple stations here run out of RUG and have signs on the pumps stating they only have Mid or Premium. With the altitude here it knocks out the octane power (highest is 91, not 93 like I've scene elsewhere) so unless your car says premium only most people wont buy it.
http://www.chevron.com/products/prodserv/fuels/gas_qanda/api_octane.shtml "Altitude - The higher the altitude above sea level, the lower the octane requirement. Modern computer-controlled engines adjust spark timing and air-fuel ratio to compensate for changes in barometric pressure, and thus the effect of altitude on octane requirement is smaller in these vehicles."

Holy crap, diesel went down AGAIN! There is now a 32-cent price difference between Regular and #2:

RUG: $2.91
ULSD: $2.59

I'm feeling pretty smug about my CRD purchase right about now. :)

In Spokane I paid $3.08 last night and regular was $3.19. Never thought I would feel happy about spending over $3 for fuel.

I'm guessing RUG in CT will hit close to $3.50 after Memorial day. Refineries are down for mainanance and there was (another) refinery fire in TX. Oil is over $63/barrel and has no reason to come down. I don't see anything lower than $3 when I'm driving aroundnow and it shot up so fast that they ran out plastic numbers in some places.

Diesel pricing is wacked out, I have no idea where it will go now that heating season is over.

RUG $3.09
B10 $2.59

I feel like this is too good to be true. I'm contemplating filling a couple of 55 gallon drums up before diesel goes up. I figure diesel has to go up some time, but then again diesel just dropped 4 cents while gas went up 10 cents.

$2.67 Diesel _ gas $3.67 ....has to help resale value if it stays this way!!! I would really like to go back to a truck but no diesel Dakota yet and I don't want the ppor economy of a gas truck.

From what I've observed... diesel typically goes up and down with the price of Crude Oil. Gas? uh, no.... anything can sway gas prices.

The price of corn is going to be a problem for gas prices for states that requires 10% ethanol. Since corn is used in so many product, watch food prices rise like crazy.

Just a slight detour of the subject.

As someone from a dryland, small grain, farming area I have seen farmers struggle for years and have struggled there myself. I am more than happy to know that corn prices are increasing due to the demand for ethnol and it is impacting our wheat prices upward as well since demand on corn shifts the feed grain market to wheat, barley and oats. I will gladly pay a little more for fuel and food to know that we are moving away from foreign oil and making farming a viable profession again.

Thats a false premise. We are buying more fuel for farming, processing and transportation of ethanol than we are mitigating by its use. Furthermore, its not going to be 'slightly more' at all, its going to be a mass rise if they continue this trend, affecting all areas of food production.

Should be looking into algae growth for your region if your truly trying to be forward thinking. It could be cultivated in eastern Washington very very easily by those same farmers. And it could be done on land left fallow for crop rotation issues.

Not trying to be argumentative, but of all the biofuels, corn based ethanol is the absolute worst.

Since most of our planet is water, algae cultivation makes sense. I used to keep fish tanks, and I can tell you, that stuff grows overnight. It covers everything.

I had no idea it was a viable bio fuel crop. Growing algae? Who would have thought? Usually we're trying to get rid of it. Next thing you know someone will discover that weeds make a good fuel. LOL! :)
