You can't beat the Liberty's price point. Can't be done...rebates. dealers who will actually deal....I find the fit and finish on my Liberty to be superb. No complaints here. If I want a Honda, I'll buy a lawn mower (Jeep doesn't sell em. But if they did, wouldn't that be a speet mower  )

Honda can't build a Jeep that's what makes a Jeep a Jeep. If you want a reliable vehicle buy a honda , but dont expect it to perform off road like a Jeep. :? Although my Jeep has been one of the most reliable vehicles i've owned out of all the american, japanese, and german cars i've owned.

My Liberty has been just as reliable as any Honda CR-V to this point of ownership (5 years and counting.) The engine has never failed, the transmission has never slipped and all of the running gear has been very dependable. I'm planning to get 200K miles out of my Jeep if I can

Honda is a great car company sure - their vehicles last forever, but what's so bad about the Liberty?

I think Jeep should seperate and Jeep should make Jeep! I don't think a Honda would leave Jeep with trail worthiness, however Honda does make some nice stuff some of which is on my wish list ie: Civic Si and CBR600.

I hope there's nothing bad about the Liberty. Sounds like it may turn out to be very reliable as the years go by......I hope.

I was just saying that consumers in general have much higher opinions of Toyota and Honda than they do of Chrysler.
If someone wanted to buy a Wrangler for instance and they walked into a showroom and had a choice of a Jeep Wrangler or a Honda Wrangler I think the Honda would sell twice as much even if it cost a little more.

I have owned many Honda vehicles and other machinary from them. All I can say is if Honda was even remotely interested in building a true trail worthy vehicle I would buy one in a second.

Not to say that I don't enjoy my jeep even though I can't keep it driving staight, makes funny noises and sucks up all my gas, I do like it.

Bad idea, look at what they did to the Hummer name(H2-cough,H3-cough-puke)

Perhaps if GM bought jeep, they could reunite all the remaining engineers from AM that were split into AMC and AM general in the 70s when the H1 was designed in the first place (it would be like seeing a long lost brother if there's anyone left). The hummer would have been a jeep in the first place had AMC not been bought be renault... and then all the bling fallout from the GM urbo-crushers would have never happened....

If anything, Hyundai is going to buy Chrsyler/Dodge/Jeep and then we'll all have 10yr/100000mi warranties. That'd be nice as long as the Jeep stayed a Jeep.

Not a big fan of Honda. It is mainly the image, I am not into front-wheel drive lowered Japanese vehicles, nor am I a snobby front-runner type hippie girl that drives a Honda/Scion/VW and buys "backpacking wine kits" from REI instead of taking water on their two mile hike. So Honda does not really work for me, but they make some good stuff, particularly engines. I don't think they would get Jeep, however. I mean they are still trying to sell a crossover car-- "the Ridgeline" to people as a real truck. Imagine what they would do to the Wrangler?

If Honda thinks your average blue-collar worker who buys a Cummins/DuraMax/Powerstroke/Hemi is going to be persuaded to drive around in a Ridgeline towing their horse trailer, then imagine their suprise when they try to sell an IRS/IFS lowrider front wheel drive 4-cylinder car as an Jeep? Oh wait... DCX beat them to this-- I am sure Honda would love the Compass, It is even uglier than the Element!

I will now say something nice about Honda, the Element in particular, and at the expense of the KJ. I wish Jeep would take a look at the inside of an Element as Jeep needs to get a clue on how to design interiors. I love the Libby but it has no storage space and DCX's choice in finish materials/functionality leave much to be desired. The inside of the Element looks like what the inside of a Jeep should look like: no carpet-- just a rubber floor you can hose out, neoprene foldable seats, plenty of cubby holes, bigger cup holders, and seats that fold into a comfortable bed. Why don't we have that Jeep? Hello? My Libery's interior looks like the one in a 1990's Dodge Daytona-- only with dimples on the dash. What were they thinking with those dimples anyway? Were they really thinking we would mistake plastic for carbon fiber? Why would we want a carbon fiber dash anyway? Maybe on a sports car, but why would I want my Jeep to have a fake carbon fiber dash instead of having storage spaces to put stuff? Why would I want carpet with the insulation under it that gets mushy when wet instead of rubber I can unzip, remove and wash off? If soccer mommies even want stuff like this (they buy Elements and Liberties), then is it not a win/win to put it in the Jeep? Does it not match the intended use of the vehicle (families/offroad) better than cheap carpet and seats that stain when you look at them? Stupid Jeep, just stupid! Oh, and nothing else in the KJ has the stupid dimples (thankfully)-- which makes it look all the more out of place. Great styling! It looks like they made the interior out of left over props from the Star Trek Next Generation TV show.

If a Japanese car company is to buy Jeep, I want it to be Toyota. They get who their target markets are and DCX/Ford/GM don't. The new Tundra is targeting the big truck market. I think it will make inroads as it is the first serious competition the imports have made in that segment. The FJ has its issues, but it is a serious attempt at Jeep market penetration and it is offroad capable. The 4Runner is also offroad capable, the Tacoma is offroad capable. Toyota may not be sold on SFA like old school Jeep, but everything else is a much better fit than Honda. If Toyota comes out with an FJ with a CAT motor--- look out Jeep, because you are in for a rough ride.

1stJeepKJ, it seems Hyundai isn't interested in purchasing Chrysler:

Pablo, the Jeep Liberty is targeted towards adults while the Honda Element is targeted towards young adults. The majority of the Liberty's target market appreciates carpet and leather seats and will never sleep in the back of their Jeep. The inside of the Liberty is just as nice as the inside of the Dodge Viper; no joke. The Compass is Jeep's young adult vehicle with features like a removable overhead flashlight, "Ultrafloor," fold-flat seats, and 120V power outlet. I do agree that space utilization sucks in the Liberty. Everything is so rounded that there's nowhere to mount anything.

You could remove the carpet and install a WeatherTech FloorLiner:

honda jeep both are very reliable cars. dont belive the media hype that certain cars last longer because there from another country. my brother has 275k on his cherokee 4.0 with only the TPS failin, my co worker has about 175k on his yj with only going threw a clutch. its all about maintence no matter the vehicle. thats my opinion and I'm sticking with it.

I would never buy another Jeep if any Japanese company owned them. I know that more and more % of the total vehicle is produced elsewhere but have never owned a vehicle with any other name but American. I ride Harleys and drive Jeeps, good American names, Names that have been around for a lot of years. I also have a Cherokee with over 265,000 miles on it so what if Yotas do it or Hondas my KJ will do it also I am sure!
