So what's the recent consensus on struts for our KJ's? My front end has become unbearable...bottoms out when coming down any kind of decline, gets squirrelly when over rail road racks at normal speeds... My jeep's BDS lifted but with factory struts...I think still the original with...well lots of km's...

Anyway, I have been reading conflicting reviews on the Rancho RSX's...anyone have any thoughts on these....

Also, in regards to the OME...which ones would we want...stiff, super stiff (I can't think of the terminology that OME uses but you know what I mean) I don't have an after market bumper or a winch but I do have a set of 245/75 Cooper STT which are a heavier that normal tire.

What other options for struts are out there that you guys are happy with?

Thanks in advance....

Ranchos ride great ,that is what we have and we like them

OME ,to my knowlage, only makes 1 strut and 4 spring rates that does not matter with a spacer lift cause you will not be buying new springs unless you remove the spacers
That being said tire weight has little to nothing to do with spring rate ,tires are "unsprung weight" so it does not matter to your springs how much the tire weighs

I was in the process of purchasing a set of the rancho rsx, part #17505, but was told that strut is for factory settings? So I wasn't sure, thought it was designed for lifted KJ's?

Thanks for the info. on the OME, I thought they only had one strut and different springs but when I was looking into ordering a set I was told differently...guy must have been confused...

So you don't think that having a heavier tire is going to affect your struts? I would think that more rotating mass would stress them more...but I'm not overly mechanical...

It appears ARB makes two different OME shocks for the front struts: the NS130 for light loads and the NS131 for medium and heavy loads. They also make three different springs for the front struts: the OME925 for light loads, OME926 for medium loads, and OME927 for heavy loads. You can download an ARB KJ product sheet from their website.

Unsprung weight also presses up against the suspension. Heavier tires vibrate more and run smoothest when used with less stiff shocks.

Check out this page for some more info:

yeah but I doubt that 10# per tire will make a diff.
besides that is more on shock/strut valving not on load wich is the springs job

This is from the AllJ's website:

"Why is getting Old Man Emu Struts better than getting the Rancho Struts? OME struts are HEAVY DUTY and are superiorly VALVED."

I have OME and I love them. In my opinion you get what you pay for. Go for the heavy duty OME.

i have OME suspension all around and love it! The ride quality is much better than stock and i have the NS131 struts. If you do decide to go with OME you will not be dissapointed.

I have the Rancho's with the set-up listed in my sig and am very pleased with the ride even with the HD coils and BFG KO's. I went with the OME rear shocks because they were "new" and designed specifically for a lifted KJ. I went with the Ranchos up front because they have been tested by many on this board and got great reviews, plus I got them for close to 1/2 the price of the OME's. No regrets at this point with the Ranchos.

I have the CRD Frankenlift with the Ranchos but will be switching them out this weekend to the OME struts with the CRD 500# springs. I will post a review when I am done. I can tell you that I have been completely happy with the Rancho's on this Jeep and my previous gasser so we will see...

So if there are two different OME struts which on comes with rusty's kit? I remember seeing the OME stamp when I removed rusty's sticker but I can't remeber the number.
