Man! I need to take driving lessons from you. I do quite a bit of driving around town. You CAN'T mash the pedal because if you did you'd be driving into the car in front of you. Most of the time I simply let of the brake pedal and idle forward. If I do have to hit the gas, I do it just enough to get the vehicle rolling, then I coast. When traffic clears, I try to keep the RPMs at 2000 or below.

Best I've managed was 21mpg in the city, and 24 on the highway (cruise control at 70mph). Now, that 24mpg was before I cleaned my MAP sensor and did the ORM and Provent. I'm hopefully doing a 1000 mile trip next week, and I'll see what I get.

on avge I get about 27 miles to the gal. my cost for making my own Bio is $0.13 per gal thus im paying less than 0.01 per mile! (this gives me the warm and fuzzy's!)

or if is have to fill up with ULSD its $2.65 gal which =0.098 per mile! (this just makes me happy too!) 8)

About 40% I think it is.

I was looking into hooking up with a local coop to buy biodiesel until I found out the price. $2.75 - $3.00 a gallon. Based on Sky's .13 cents per gallon, I'd say someone is making money off the coop. I was hoping it would be a buck a gallon or so. Guess I was wrong.

Back to the drawing board...

they are not making any money... in fact they are prob loosing a lot of $$$ if they sold it you you at cost it would run close to $8 per gal. its the Gov grants and Tax breaks they are living off of...

Drop the speed to 65 MPH and see what happens to your fuel mileage. Bet you will go past 30 mpg.

So the reports I'm reading about people making biodiesel for less than a dollar a gallon are bogus??

Heck, it doesn't seem to be that hard to do. You just have to be accurate in your measurements and make sure you follow all the procedures. I found one site that said, "It's easier than making beer". I'd agree with that. I used to make my own beer in college. It was a little work, but it tasted better and cost less. Sort of what I want to do with biodiesel. It's better fuel, and cheap to make (so I thought).

I just don't have a place at my humble abode to set up a biodiesel still. If I did, I'd be plumbing up a water heater as fast as I could. LOL! :)

Well, it finally happened here. D is $3.25 and UL is $3.25

Unfortunately, the mid grade (87 octane) up here in the high country is 6 cents more which is what the Stang likes. What's up with our low grade being 85 octane anyway?

Because there is less oxygen in the atmosphere being sucked into the engine the AF mixture isnt as close to "dieseling," so because of the lower oxygen content we are able to run lower octane gas with the same results.

For the first time in years diesel is cheaper than unleaded. Diesel 295.9 UL 302.9.

Filled the Jeep today after a 100 miles of city driving and 50 miles 80/85 mph and the MPG was 22 m[pg up from the 17/8 mpg of the last couple months. I switched back to the Amoco Premium 47 cetane diesel that I was running when Greg did the fuel sample test, needless to say I am quite pleased. :D

Forgot to mention that RUG (regular unleaded gas) was up to $2.959 today and headed higher.

Here in Reno 87 Gas is $3.30 or so while diesel is 2.90.

High quality Bio from Bently is currently 3.50 gal.

The Diesel/Gasoline price inversion of the past few years was a bit of an anomaly caused by Chinas red hot economic growth straining its power grid. Many factories used diesel generators to keep running.

Oldnavy: at 150miles, that tank was probably more than 1/2 full. I think it was YOU who said that to reduce errors that we should get the tank a bit lower and have larger fills.

However, driving styles and drivers being what they are (wives), I doubt measuring errors are the biggest variable.

I have composed a poem with another reason to fill at half-way:

Ode to the Gas Guage

Husbands must fill it
It is up to the man.
You know she will forget
And you'll walk with the can.
