So, going through a few things on the KJ, i found a couple harnesses under the dash that i frankly have not a clue what they go to. Obviously options i didnt have the chance of getting but...what are they for?





In one picture you can see a slim black plug.

In another picture you can see the same slim black plug but also a second grayish plug that looked to have 4 spade connections.

Both were found under the drivers dash kinda just hang'n there.

Anyone?

When I bought my KJ, it had an aftermarket alarm already installed and the dealer wanted extra money for it. I told them no, and I have one of those plugs hanging under my steering column behind the kick panel doing nothing.

Might be the KJ is pre-wired for an aftermarket alarm system and those are the stubs.

I'll check under my dash tomorrow and see what connections I got just laying around, I know i've seen 1-2 in my engine bay alone, i don't have cruise or the cables for the tow group (yet), so maybe that is why I have all these empty plugs too????

Those are actually a 2 pin plug, oddly enough, i just ordered some from wholesalemopar.com 10 bucks a pop to add some lighting to the foot well that'll just plug in. Cant beat that.

I hate how the interior of the KJ has such little light. My biggest pet peive.

Jeep is like many other manufactures,Basically the same wire harness for all like model vehicles to save on cost.There are wiring harness that you need for certian things like the EVIC.

i have that same black plug, i had no idea what its for, i have roof lights and i dont have a "spare" gray plug, its being used. so i bet the black one is for towing harness or something, because i dont have towing package on mine, i cant think what else it could be for

looking a bit harder, it looks as if that slim black plug was the exact plug that went into the back of my evic...?

Shouldnt have anything to do with the towing pack... Thats plug is in the back behind a panel. I had to use it for my after market wiring.
