Where did you get the quick disconnect for the front? Have a link?

Never were in business and the design is locked secretly away. Drop it, thanks. There's some history here and it always turns into a big issue. Sorry, not your fault.

It will really increase the flex in the front and can help offroad. However, it is very unsafe to drive on the road. So in short only have it off when four-wheeling. Make sure you know what to expect. If you are still unsure don't do it.

Just a thought here guys. You are making the whole front disco thing a big deal by the way you treat it. Instead of saying things like " just drop it" or "you don't want to go there" just toss up a link, or kindly explain a simple question.

By blowing it up into an issue, nobody really solves anything.

My experience with the front disco:
It helps on the trail, it made some obstacles a little easier.
It was a pain in the but to unhook and hook back up for the benefits
The Jeep drove like a dizzy elephant on the road to the trailhead.

Overall: not worth the effort to unhook it. Do it if you have the time to waste, or your are doing some serious stuff.

Just a thought - It's not the number of posts or sending in $30 that pops the newbie cherrie; it's seeing the exact same zombie-like conversations come back to life after they've already been beaten to death with a swaybar and buried under a mound of peanut butter.

It is okay to talk about front sway bar disconnects. Just one specific privately made model needs to be excused from the conversation. Do not ask about it because it has been discussed before and will not be discussed anymore.

If you can find a company that makes one or you can create a safe and effective one yourself, by all means, discuss it on here.

Tokyojoe - The last time I saw this thread there were people calling for a complete shutdown of the thread due to safety concerns. The thread was eventually locked and it had nothing to do with "one specific privately made model".

Which is exactly what we need to avoid. Guys got burned trying to make something good for the club, 'nuff said. No matter how many times you think you've seen the sway bar issue, it'll always pop up again. Handle it maturely and everyone will be a lot better off.

People disco the front all the time on other off-road rigs. It is bound to cross over into our KJ realm same as big tires, lifts, winches, and all the other fun stuff. The purpose of this forum is to spread information and camradarie.

I can't agree more Calvin. I personally have no big deal with disconnecting the swaybar. I do it all the time when wheeling. And I have even driven on the road with it disconnected. I had it off the entire time at Moab along with numerous other people. It has tons of body roll, but that is suspected.

I think the issues is somewhat a labiality one. I think people are afraid that someone is going to try it and roll their KJ and want to sue because they where told to try it. Either way we should just tell people what it does and how it can be dangerous and let them decide for themselves. I remember the last couple times I've tried to explain disconnecting the swaybar was really not that big of a deal I got my head bit off, being told I was going to get people killed.

And the last time I said, "Censorship sucks" I got the same response. "People are gonna get hurt so shut up newbie".

I say we're all supposed to be adults and the more information the better. This thread is already going in a better direction than the last one.

didnt mean to kick the hornets nest on this one. it seems this is a touchy subject. So in short, know that is a pain in the butt to do on the front, not recommendend unless your doing serious offroading and not driving down the highway. The rear is ok and will provide more flex for some and not that much for others. Sway bay disconnects for the front may or may not be out there but are not really worth the time it takes to reconnect them. Moderators if this thread starts to create a problem please just lock it i dont want anyone having hurt feelings that could degrade what we have here.

I'll clarify my position:

Do I have a front disco? Yes
Is it a one-off? Yes
Does it resemble others that have been posted here? Silghtly
Will I share the information? Only if I'm out wheeling with you and see that you understand safety issues.
Is it dangerous to have? Yes

Very good point. I keep making the assumption (yes, yes, I know what happens when you assume ) that people understand the consequences of pulling the swaybar off. I guess I've been around here a while and I've gotten used to most of the "faces."

The bottom line on anything related to your KJ's suspension (or other parts of any vehicle) is this: If you don't know what you're doing and the consequences of doing it, then don't. If you absolutely think you need to do it, find someone else that you trust and that REALLY knows what they are doing and have them explain it to you and help you out. DON'T go ask your uncle's cousin's friend that thinks he saw it on TV once.
