So many things to buy and bolt on...it's as addicting as customizing a Harley!

I just made an appointment to have my 05 Liberty Sport lifted (2.5" Skyjacker) and am changing from stock 225's to 245/75R16's. This is gonna run me $2200.

Lets say I only have another $1500 to spend...what are the items that I should focus my attention on (skids, rockrails, etc.)?

Thanks,
The Lama

FYI- I am a little concerned that there is no easy-to-use recovery hardware on my Libby (no tow hooks or anything) . I don't have a hitch installed either.

skids and rock rails are primary needs....if you ARE planning to hit off-road trails. If you are looking to stay on smooth dirt and paved roads, then you don't need them.

1. Skids
2. Rails
3. front/rear tow hooks or rear hitch with a hitch shackle attachment

Shoot he would still have another $700 to spend

If you want a winch or just some really good front recovery points...then the detours backbone system..when it is available

If you dont want/need a winch I would make sure you get some recovery/safety gear/tools etc. Then go for a roof rack and lights. Or perhaps a locker for the rear?

It sort of depends on what you want to do.

In no particular order:

Get a cb radio setup
New sound system
fire extinguisher
Hi-lift jack

Sounds like you pretty much know what you want. I'm not one to give advice here (lacking all the same things) but recovery points would be the first place to start, if you plan on mudding. Skids or sliders for rock-crawling.

Try to find people who 'wheel in your area and find out what they recommend. As said before, it really depends on what you want to do.

Welcome to our world!

No matter what you plan on doing off road, I'd go for recovery first. If you're a skilled driver you can put off on the skids for the second purchase. You can still get stuck with skids (trust me  ) but how will others safety get you out? When you upgrade to something other than tow hooks or shackles later, there's always someone newer who will buy them from you.

Is there a local chapter or any club near you go join up with? It's way more fun and way safer not going alone.

x2 minus the sound system. unless you mean a like an external loud speaker, then you can yell for help.
