fitting on the carrier - is a whole lot easier than fitting in the front wheel well.

But it sure looks good ....

The puddle is probably from Marty's XJ.

That is Marty's driveway and Ted's (USAFCOP) KJ.

I am sure Marty was just testing his carrier to see how well it handled 35's.....for future users *cough*

Oh, ok then. On a side note, I didn't realize USAFCOP was from WA.

Hey Marty's alive. I been trying to get ahold of him for weeks. :D

Well it appears to me that that is Marty's spare and the KJ was just trying it on for size.

It's not a chop, it is the spare from my XJ. The puddle is tranny fluid from the wife's ZJ. Believe it or not, I don't have any leaks on my XJ. I've been working on getting these tire carriers to work right with the bumper, and it has been a lot of trial and error to figure out what needs to be done. The problem with the carrier was the bumper would flex slightly when the carrier was open, so I had to figure out the best way to stop that without completely redesigning the whole bumper. The other problem was the latch setup on the carrier. The T-Handle and slam latch was a novel idea, but it was a pain to build the carrier, the customer would have a heck of a time getting the striker setup just right because there wasn't any margin for error, and with it setup perfectly, it still was a pain in the but to operate. So, I went back to the old tried and proven UBolt latch.

So, now I think I have all the bugs worked out. All the bumpers from here on out will have the upgrades to handle the tire carrier/jerry can carrier, and anyone that orders the carriers for their Gen I and II already out there will get these parts as well. These parts are not necessary until you get a carrier if you already have a bumper.

Here are some pictures of the new latch setup:

And there are two parts to reinforcing the corner of the bumper so it doesn't flex. One part you can't see because it is inside the bumper and I didn't think to get a picture of it until the bumper was already mounted, and then this plate, which is completely concealed by the flare:

All of this is much easier for the customer to put together than the old latch setup, and it clamps down nice and tight, much better than the old latch.

So, getting this mess worked out before I sent out anymore rear bumpers has been taking up time, along with my wife being in and out of the doctor all last week and then ending up in emergency surgery Friday morning, I've been a little too busy to get to the phone. I get a lot of phone calls and emails, and they take up way too much production time, so I try to return them as soon as I can.

Looks awsome Marty, I knew it had to be something like a family crisis. I knew I was right about that 35 inch tire, so what did I win? :D

Marty, Glad you are testing it w/ a 35"-er. I doubt I will need over a 33"-er on mine but nice to know it has been beefed up.

Ted, Love the Cliff Hanger sticker!
