so I have had this wobbling (only way I can think to discribe it) from the front drivers side. I was thinking wheel bearing, so I had it into the dealer and they tell me it's the cv axle, so I think that sounds reasonable. I go buy a reman'd axle and install it tonight and the noise is still there. So now I am out $200 for an axle I didn't need and it's $260 for a fricking wheel bearing as you need to buy the whole hub

do I risk it and drop the $260 on a bearing?

I dont know i've also got some low speed wobble noise in the front end. Everything is tight, i'm not sure what it is. Didn't notice it till the lift and tires went on. I'm thinking maybe the front drive shaft. I'm too lazy to pull it and take it for a ride to see if it goes away.

Not the tires on mine. It's a wobble noise not an acutal wobble. But yes a broken belt will cause a hell of a wobble.

If you chaged the cv, did you check the bearing while you were in there? Its kinda hard not to..

Your first mistake was taking it to the dealer. They will tell you something is wrong just for the heck of it. :?

I would swap tires around just to eliminate that as a possible problem....its too easy not to do it..

And then pull the front driveshaft and see if it still does it.

Are your rotors good?

Jack up the wheel in ? and place one hand on the top and one on the bottom of the tire and try to tilt back and forth,If it moves then you have a bad wheel bearing(75% of the time this is true, gotta make sure your not trying to turn the tire side-to-side or you will get a false judgement),if not it could be a bad tire(broken internal belt).

Exactly!!! I dont know what it is though. Haven't really had time or the motivation to mess with it. I'm just waiting for something to break or fall off.

Could it be the prop shaft? (t-case to diff)

I hate to say it, but I think it's a Jeep thing. Our front ends aren't exactly bulletproof. And although I'm better than I used to be, I'm not exactly 'gentle' with her either. :D

So far this year up front (for preventative maintenance as much as anything) I've had my shafts re-built, wheel bearings replaced, and new brakes/rotors installed. $$$

I'm so used to the odd noises, wobbles, creaks, groans, shimmys, clunks, and thumps from mine that I wouldn't know what it was like to run smooth and quiet.

My MT/R's are about shot so I'm hoping that a new set of shoes will help... With my luck I'll be able to hear more noises than before...

Todd

so it was the tires....which are a month old, I guess my under inflation causes feathering which is the noise, I aired them up and rotated and that should fix it.
