I was just quoted $125 for a new Mopar fuel filter for my Libby. I argued with the parts guy that this must include something other than the fuel filter but he insisted he was correct. I've read other threads where filters were obtained for $28 so I'm curious if anybody has the P/N and prices paid.

At this price the CAT 2 looks like a very good deal.

I bought mine from Hansen Chrysler in Nashville. Give the parts department a call there and have them ship it to you. I didn't pay anywhere near $125.

I wonder if he's quoting you for a CRD - the regular Libby gas engine has a sock in the fuel tank that might be part of an assembly - there is NO WAY that quote is for the right part - the LIST PRICE is forty some-odd dollars. That guy is smokin crack!

You can buy 3 factory fuel filters made in Italy from Hall chrysler Jeep in Michigan for $85.95 + $9.95 shipping. they have 3 mopar air filters for the crd for $37.95 + $9.95 shipping. I usually get mine in about 2-3 days and I live in kansas city.

I did the same thing.. I also got a 6-pack oil filter from them at a good price... both on ebay.

125 dollars!!! :o I agree with onthehunt, a filter should only run about 35-40 bucks. It sounds like he is quoting you the entire filter assembly.

paid $54 for a combination of the fuel filter ($36.00) and oil filter (roughly $12.00) including tax and walked out with them the day they gave me my free oil change. You want a part# to give the guy so you know you get the right part?

Perhaps the word has gotten around that if you get too much air in the line during a fuel filter change you kill the pump. If you screw up 2 of 100 and need to buy a pump the extra $80 would about cover it.

Yep, he's quoting you the price for the whole fuel filter assembly, mounting head and all.

If he won't listen to reason, find another place to buy your parts. If he can't even get a fuel filter right, he has no business being behind the parts counter.

Good parts people are hard to find.

I went into a motorcycle dealer once and asked for a rear pinch bolt for my bike. The parts person said, "What's a pinch bolt?". I told them it was the bolt that kept the axle from spinning in the swingwarm. Then they asked, "What's a swingarm?". Oh boy!!

I had to take the parts catalog and point to what I wanted. :?

Which is odd because they are usually very good people to deal with both for parts and service.

I've had a Chrysler parts guy ask me "What's a CRD?"

The fuel filter at my dealership goes for about $40. Install is around another $46.
