Okay, I'm gonna have to go with Saturday. GF is spending the day grading papers on Saturday and she wants some time on Sunday to do other things with me.

I checked Jamestown Rd and part of it is closed (Boo!).

So we can get the stock vehicles on a trail, we can do Middle St Vrain.
Skids are recommended but most likely not that bad if it is like Kingston Peak.

After completing Middle St Vrain, I was thinking we could do Gillespie Gulch. Those that don't want to do the harder trail can head home or hop into someone else's KJ for a fun adventure in KJ happiness.

Okay, the trails are set, unless someone knows something about the trails that would make us change them, these are it.

Meeting place: Something close to the intersection of Rte 72 and 93. Anyone know of a good place?
Time: We can make it 9:00am if Diminish has to drop his daughter off at school by 8:00am. This will make it easier for those in the Springs and Castle Rock areas to make it up.

Anyone for 8:00 or 8:30 am meet time? Diminish, let us know what works for you.

If you don't want to drive your KJ off-road, you can still join us. Same goes for after doing the Moderate and you don't want to do the Hard trail. You can jump in with someone

Sounds like a plan. Woohoo! BTW, we did Middle St. Vrain when my KJ was still stock. If I remember correctly it should be suitable for all that are interested in coming regardless of lift, tires, and skids.

Well then, I guess we'll change the hard trail to Eldorado Mountain.

Any news on that trail?

Coney Creek Trail comes right off the end of Middle St. Vrain. It is supposed to be more challenging.

Not to scare anyone, but some changes have been made to the start of Middle St. Vrain. The following quotes are from recent trip reports. It sounds like if we can get everybody over the first obstacle we're all good. Also keep in mind that the Liberty was trying to do this with a couple inches of snow...

“There is a new "gate" obstacle at the start of the trail that challenged a few vehicles but in the end we didn't leave anyone behind. It is right at the trailhead and is designed to keep underqualified vehicles off the trail. There were a couple issues getting some people over it, but in the end we were all on the trail.”

“We started off at the parking lot that was almost completely empty. There was about two inches of snow on the trail here, at it's lowest point in elevation. We talked to some people in a stock Jeep Liberty who were going to the end to do some hiking, thinking that they wouldn't have any issues. After we aired down we let them go first, but then we backed out again as we saw them backing back out of the trail. They decided it was too difficult, so they got a ride in the back of Joe's truck instead.”

I think i'm gonna have to back out on this one. I'm pissed! When we bought the new tires they did not have a 5th one in stock and had to order. They said they would be in today, however I just got a call and they will not be in until Monday. No way I am going up without a spare. Sorry guys. I sure hope there will be another trip before we have a blizzard. Hope everyone has a good time, and I will make sure to be there for the next!!

You can always tag along with someone else. Besides, TokyoJoe has 5 spares in that size...

No reason to back out.

Edit: You could even do something like Switzerland Trial. It is in the same area and is nothing more than a dirt road with fantastic views.

The first obstacle on Middle St. Vrain isn't difficult, but I don't think a stock KJ can do it ...... I have a 2" lift on my XJ and it snagged my t-case skid once on the way back.

I can probably do any one of the days, but I'm not going to bring my KJ. I would bring my XJ if we do anything further then Left Hand (glorified dirt road) lol

Well, like I said...there's plenty of trails up there. We'll find something suitable for everybody that wants to come. Then if we want to hit some more difficult trails people are welcome ride along.

I'm still a maybe, my wife just called and said she found "the perfect house" and we have to see it on Saturday - I trying to get it moved to Sunday though.

If I am going though I will probably ride with someone else I dont want my stock Renny to slow any body down. My digicam has two 65M chips and a 256M chip so I can take much pictures if needed.

Diminish, I have my stock tires sitting in the garage. I can let you borrow one in the event you were to get a flat.[/b]

I'm up for Saturday, but it depends a lot on where?

What's it depend on? Your last post made it sound like you were in for either day and just deciding on which Jeep to bring.

Definitely a Saturday run at this point. We were thinking something up close to Boulder. Kicking around Middle St. Vrain, Coney Creek, Eldorado Mountain, etc.

If you have a preference we need you to speak up. This is a group effort and it makes it tough to come to any conclusions if people don't voice their opinions.

Where would you like to go? Where would you not like to go?

Thanks.

I've never been up Eldorado Mountain or Coney Creek.

I want to go, but have to make sure of some other things at the moment. Put me down between "Maybe" and "yes I'm going" lol

Cell phone number in case you are running a little late:

My cell: 720-273-7930 - name is David

Make sure you bring food, water, and warm/spare clothes/blankets.

Plus the usual off-roading equipment.

Is there anyone that wants to go but not drive their KJ? We need to know so we can coordinate space[/b]
