I know im due for the blower motor recall but i just noticed today that my blower only blows on the #4 setting. should i be concerned because of the recall and fires? or can i take care of this later on down the road becuase i really need my liberty for work and dont have the time currently to drop it off at the dealer during service hours to be able to get a loaner for the day.

Your blower resister went out, from what I've heard from others that it is a very easy fix(about 10-15min) and the part is cheap(if I remember right it's under $30).I've never had to replace one but it can't be that hard.

Yes, it probably is the blower resister, it is situated behind the clove box, when you open the clove box you can pull the holders at both sides sidewaays a bit and the clove box opens further to reveil the inside of your dash, the blower resister is the card you see at the back, it is a cheap and quick fix, just replace the card for a new one.

I had the same situation a few months ago - the resistor was about $24 at the dealership and it took me 15min to change it!
There is another "how to" on the web with pictures - I can post the link later today.
