Hmmmm.... I'll go. Just wondering how different spotting is going to be in the dark. Don't you guys know any other trails down there? I'm discussing a day run with Diesel for earlier Saturday. We'd probably just meet at your place, Marty, for the evening run.

So, if we follow you and are spotted in to the obstacle, can you come back over the obstacle and either go out the rest of the trail or spot us back out? I'd rather stay as a group being night and needing spots. But I'd love to find the true limits of the Patriot. Of course my transmission is f-ed up. I think it was programmed as a normal CVT2, not the CVT2L with the crawl ratio. Talking to the dealer about that tomorrow.

Spotting will be a little different, but it won't be dark until around 8:00, so there will still be plenty of light when we go through. The trail isn't very long. Once you go through the trail, going back out won't be hard, so I doubt you will need a spot from where the trail splits. I guess we (Troy and I) could go down the obstacle then come back up it and go back out via China Wall trail, since the other trail really doesn't have anything else past that obstacle. It's just that obstacle is the best part of the whole trail, but I, nor Troy that I know of, have gone up the obstacle, so it would be fun to go back up. In fact, I don't think Troy has ever run this trail. Just talked to Ted, and forgot he has to work this weekend, so looks like Troy, Bill, Darryl, and myself on this one, along with our guests, Rhett and Sarah. I think if you guys do another trail earlier, you might be pretty tuckered out for China Wall.

Yeah, Rhett is checking with Sarah to see if she wants to do the other run, it would be about 6 hours in the Jeep, on the road. At any rate, you're probably right. So, it's cool if we stop by and check out the shop? Maybe we can lend a hand (or get in the way).

What shop? :D You guys are welcome to come hang out, but I would prefer it to be later when we are almost done with our installs. Be too cramped while Troy and I are working, and I get a little claustrophobic and cranky if crowded while working. I'll have a better idea of what time would be safe later this week.

ok heres the thing,
after last saturdays run i have realized that i hate death traps, so if we come up to a rock and it looks like it will slide me down a cliff to my death, i will park the jeep on the side of the trail and ride with someone. i think bill did that just to prove his patriot is capable  , lol.

Yeah, sorry about that Darryl... Totally unintentional. I was freaking out just about as much as you. Actually, your rig crawled over better than mine which kept you further away from sliding off than me. Maybe when I get my tranny fixed, it will keep ME safer!!

Since it's going to be Saturday evening I won't be able to make it, I have to pick up Cassidy from DIA late that afternoon. Hopefully there will be one more opportunity for me to wheel before I head out for the sandbox in mid/late August.

KW,
How late is late in the afternoon? Darryl and I will both be coming down from Aurora, minutes from DIA. I don't think anyone's really said what time to meet and what not, maybe you can still swing it?!? We could always play chauffeur too!

What time are we planning on anyway?

The problem is that the flight isn't scheduled to arrive until around 5pm so by the time we collect baggage, drive back to Colorado Springs, and have dinner, it will be much too late for me to head out for a wheeling trip. Oh well, maybe next time.

KW, I got Darryl here and he says, "I can bring his wife down there!" So, if you wanna save a little gas, we could definitely make this work. Also, you'd probably be back in the Springs and ready to roll by 7 or 8... It's not gonna get any darker when we hit the trail, so I'm down for waiting for ya. Not sure about anyone else. Hell, if we're gonna do it, why not do it big? I understand though if you wanna just spend a quiet evenin with the wife...

MARTY,
I think this might end up being a sleep over at your place!!! LMFAO
Seriously though, by the time we're done, it may be late for us to head back up here, and Darryl doesn't camp! Denise and I may get a site somewhere, maybe the Garden if there are spots open.

Cassidy is Pete's 13 year old, not his wife.:D I'm sure Pete would prefer to pick her up. As short and simple as the trail is, I think we will be done long before sundown, and if Darryl takes 77 up to 285, he can be home in about 1-1.5 hrs at the most. There are some great camping spots on China Wall. The river is right at the end of the trail and would make for great camping, but the only thing I would worry about is flash flooding. Sorry, I just don't have the room for a sleep over right now. :D

One of my IMA's is going to work Saturday night, so I might try to scam this... Maybe get Tricia to drive, or she can let me... Yea, right... even though it is only a liabilty why I cant drive (one armed guys drive  ) but my MSG CC saw me this morning, he had to come in to read a LTC his rights since our Officers are all TDY, and he agreed with me sitting on the desk and not driving...

But I will try to work something, What time we all meeting? Night run!!!!! I got Lights!!! Now I just need to be able to scam a few hours off of work... Go in at 10 or 11, I could just say my hand hurt  oh wait my profile is not as good as Troy's. 8)

I just started up and I've already screwed up and posted on a 2 year old thread any who!! I'm new to this I've an'02 Libby Sport with brand New Dunlop Rover A/T's 235/70-16 and I've never been off road. My one problem is I'm a checker at King Sooper's Green Mountain in Lakewood unfortunately Checkers get weekends off only if they have been with King's for 20 plus years so my only days off are only during the week :( . If anyone has the time during the week and could show me the ropes I would appreciate it. Of coarse I understand most get to play on the week ends. Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated. :D 8)

LMFAO... I figured she would be a kid. Darryl seemed to think she was his wife.

So, what time do we want to meet up? Again, Darryl and I will probably meet at Marty's. I don't mind starting late; sounds like others wouldn't either so they can use their lighting. I'm thinking maybe get to Marty's about 5 or 6. We could fire up the grill for a pre-run feast. Of course, this is up to you, Marty. I'm just throwin' out numbers. Maybe leave for the trail around 7-8, depending on if KW really wants to go or not, and other's schedules. That would put us up there in time to use lighting! What did you say, an hour or so to the trail... That puts us back in the Springs around 11-12 depending on how long the trail takes.

We probably won't camp out on the trail. Still not sure what we're gonna do.

RUSH. Advice. Get a different job! LOL 20 years is way too long to wait for weekends off. Maybe construction; they pay much better and usually find time to play. What's the deal, are you a student, retired? Any audio video experience?
Do you work nights? Is that why you can't make this run? If so, maybe you could switch with the morning person?!?!

There is no way I'm going to be allowed to go on a Jeep run the same night my 13 yo niece comes back from her first trip away since she moved in with us. Especially considering that 3 days later she goes off to camp for a week and then 20 days after she gets back from camp, I leave for Iraq for 15 months. The only other option would be to bring along a grumpy, tired, tempermental teenager that has spent the last 6 hours traveling. (I don't think so  ).

Even if it was my wife coming into town, if I had someone else pick her up from the airport to make a Jeep run more feasable, I would be in the doghouse for a very long time.

Trust me, I understand your intentions were in the right place (trying to help out and stuff) but it's just not going to happen unfortunately. Like I said, maybe next time.

Oh c'mon pete... everytime I go on any run or spend anything on the jeep, I build a new addition to the dog house... pretty soon it is going to be a mansion, and the pup don't mind the company either

Seriously though, let us know when, even if it is short notice, a trip will work for you, regardless of the day of the week, and if I am off, I am sure I could con Tricia into driving the jeep out to the trailhead (the trick will be getting her to let me drive the trail) and Marty might be talked into going too. So if you want to go, just let us know, besides I wouldn't mind wishing you luck before ya go either. If you are gone for 15, I might be in the middle of my next trip when you come home, pending how well I can fool the physical therapy and leadership into thinking I am good to go.

As for Sat, I am thinking that I could scam out until 10, not midnight, so if we leave earlier, I might be able to go, but again, it is all guessing for me, so if later works for the rest of you go for it, besides I might feel a little guilty since I have only worked 5 nights of the past 2 months

Hey Pete like Ted said we'll make a run for you when you have the time,I'm sure all of us want to give a farewell to you.

As far as the start time it doesn't matter to me,just Marty and myself do need to get the work done that needs to get done that day and maybe a little break before the run. What's good for everyone else is good for me.

Ted I wheeled with my left arm in a full cast, only need one good arm to steer    !Ask Pete,we tried to do Eagle Rock that one snowy/icy day, fell flat on my butt to,well so did everyone else  .

Well Guys, I'm here in Colorado Springs chillin in the camper at the current moment. We were out hiking some of the trails at Garden of the Gods before it started raining. Tomorrow morning will be whitewater rafting down on the Royal Gorge. Then out with some of the best LOST KJ wheelers Saturday Night to see how it's done. Rough vacation...............................
