Well after doing my breathers the other day, I went a little offroad and I had to cross the creek.
Well the water was a little muddy so I couldn't see all that well and while I was going through I bottomed out my cross bar on the rock. After that I decided that saving for the lift can wait and I will get some skid plates with the money I have so far.
I went on justforjeeps.com to get them and the engine skid is descried like that:
Engine (82210769)(+26.10) Transfer Case (82209455)

So my questions is, I have an 05 Sport with auto tranny, Is the engine skid and transfer case skid a one piece?
When I try to buy the skids, I can only get Engine (82210769)(+26.10) Transfer Case (82209455) and tranny skid and fuel tank, but there is no transfer case as a separate entry on the list.
Any help is understanding that would be greatly appreciated by wildrussian!

P.S if you have hard time understanding my english thats because i really am russian.

Skids are separate.

1. Front Engine Skid
2. Tranny Skid
3. Transfer Case Skid
4. Fuel Tank Skid

If you want maximum protection, skip the Tranny Skid (OEM) and get an All J Super Skid II.

I read a few topics where OEM skid plates weren't recommended.. Not sure why.
Which skids are recommended and are they heavier/lighter than OEM skids?

I know the OEM skids are not greatest but for the amount of wheeling I am doing, they would do fine, plus I olny have few hundread saved up.
So I need to call justforjeeps.com and talk to them about the engine and transfer case skid description and what it means?

For the front engine skid and the transfer skid, the Mopar ones are fine. There are a couple options for the tranny skid (I love my All J super skid) and one good one for the gas skid, Kilby. These are just way sturdier than the OEM ones, which dent up pretty easy. I'll try and fine a picture.

If you order from the dealer, be careful.

Mopar refers to the engine skid as a transfer case skid as well.

They will cover everything you need to cover.

BUT..

You will find that this item:
"Skid Plate - Engine(2002-2007) (L82209026) = $40.40"

Is no longer available. I just went round and round with the dealer about this. Seem they have switched vendors or some crap like that and it has a NEW part number as well as a higher price.

Good Luck.

IF you can find the old part number BUY IT. I did. I found ONE in wisconsin someplace and grabbed it.

I know, the websites are all, or most of the ones i found, saying the same thing. BUT when you go to order it, call first because the old part number will refer to the new part number and that part number is not even available to be ordered until 7/23 (today as a matter of fact), and the price my local stealership is quoting is 123.00

Just don't be suprised if you run into issues when orderin off the web the one front skid. get a human being on the line and get them to tell you it is an old one and they HAVE IT!

I didn that in wisconsin and he sent it to me for 49.00.

Sorry, don't intend to confuse.

Just keep the engin skid number issue in mind and don't be suprised if you receive only 3 skids and a "BackOrder" on the last one.

My 2005 Sport has the engine and transfercase skids on stock. Look before you buy. You'll need the tow hooks and sliders also to go off road with some confidence. Body damage done without the sliders is many times more than their cost.

i was pretty sure I don't have any, I changed the oil in it a while back and didn't see anything. The only thing I have under there are the cross bars.

If you have skills, get the tow hooks before the skids. I got the hooks first figuring at least if I get stuck on a easy thing, someone could pull me off.

Front engine skid on the left, All J super skid for the transmission on the right. Just a bit sturdier isn't it?

Transfer case skid (from the driver's side)

And the Mopar gas skid. Notice how the corners bend, I was just waiting for that to fold in and puncture the tank. I don't have pictures of the Kilby on, but it has drain holes too, but has closed corners and is much thicker.

I know JeepJeepster has some good skid plate pictures somehwere.
