The new design is going to be way better than the prototype version, yes you'll lose the front reciever hitch but will gain alot of front approach angle. The winch plate will be secured by 2 reciever hitch tubes mounted vertical to keep the winch safe and out of the way. This new idea is going to be way better then the first and much stronger.Sorry but you can't please everyone, but trust me it's going to be one bada$$ bumber!!

How would the insurance co know what bumper you have to possibly deny you coverage? Ive had many diff companies and have always signed up online. No agent has ever seen any of my cars......

I am not concerned about the function of the air bags. Fact is there are at least 3 sensors located around the car that at least 2 of them need to be triggered to allow the airbags to fire, and only above 35 mph, or at least that was the first generation ones.

What I am concerned about is the "Compliance" issue in that just as ARB's are "Compliant." If one is in a collision wether or not they work properly, I don't want my insurance to say Hey that after markert bumper is not airbag compliant so we are denying coverage.

ARB's can say that with their testing and thus the insurance company's have a harder time denying coverage.

I want as tough of a bumper as I can get.

I have a friend who is an automotive engineer and builds special market heavy equipment. He and I were about to start desiging a bumper for my KJ. When he saw the airbags on my car he realized that his insurance would not cover him and that my insurance would have cause to deny my coverage if i was ever in an accident and the bumper on the KJ was not "Compliant.".

Not an issue of safety or function just the Freakin Attorneys.
The airbag deployment sensors on the KJ are inertia activated, not by direct inpact, all newer sensors are that way.

Marty is a highly skilled “perfectionist” custom fabricator who carefully thinks through a design before throwing a product together. He might not be able to satisfy each and every person by one design, however, I’m sure he will (for a price) customize to meet your needs. There is no doubt, he’s good at what he does.

jdumont,

When you sign up for insurnace is not when they deny you coverage. Obviously you have never had to deal with one of those cheap online insurance companies. It's when you are in an accident is when they say woops soory about your luck.

They have all the neat little tricks they pull when it's time to pay off.

State Farm is denying coverage, STILL, down in the gulf saying all the damage to peoples homes is due to flood damage and not wind or storm damage. Makes sense doesn't it.

A little piece of fact for you to think about.

State Seat Belt laws. Know why we have them?

Hint: It has NOTHING to do with saving lives!

Insurance companies made states like KY here enact them and make them PRIMARY offenses (meaning they can write you a ticket for it if they see you not wearing one at a stop light and doing nothing else wrong). So IF or When the insurance company prove that you were not wearing your seat belt (depending on the accident, a bruise on the shoulder is a dead give away that you were) then they will deny coverage because you were breaking a traffic law while in the accident. Same ploy they use to deny DUI accident coverage. Saves them a bunch of money, but they still take your premiums.

Having that little phrase on the box that says "Air Bag Compliant" DOES make a BIG difference. Means ARB has tested them and the insurance companies can not say they were not the cause of some injuries. Not a big issue as long as other people hit you, but make one little simple mistake in a mall parking lot and see how fast they check out your car.

I speak from experience. State farm (my insurance co.), Travelers, Hanover and Progressive (all 4 involved in this one) looked at my smittybuilt bull bar after this accident to see why my airbags DID NOT fire (That year XJ was recalled for the arming lever not being installed correctly). But they backed off real fast once they concluded that if they had fired, they would be out a whole lot more money to my family in death benifits. The 17 year old that hit me was racing his cousin and passing on a small hill and in my lane. He was at fault and violated Georgia Traffic laws. His insurance company denied coverage to him and did not fix his brand new Neon.

Ask ARB Why they put that on their bumpers.

I guess you never read "Unsafe at Any Speed."

Perhaps I should get into the attachment business and make a hitch fit for the new bumper design for those that want to use a hitch for moving their boat from the front.

I've always said that insurance companies are poor gamblers. Your betting you will have an accident and they are betting you wont. When you win the bet they like any poor looser try not to pay up on the wager and then raise the stakes before they will play again. Can we say racketteering???

LEAD :D FOLLOW :P or GET OUT OF THE WAY   8) :-)r :-)r :-)r

I interupt this insurance hijack to let Marty know he may be busy on some rear bumpers. Must have had at least 10 people ask me where to get one at Camp Jeep.

Now back to things that really matter...lets see some pics of the front. :P

This sounds great. I'm chomping at the bit to get mine, but I can wait until you're able to get them done.

I have yet to figure out the new pricing. They won't be cheap, but the good news for the 05-07 guys is their bumpers won't cost $200 more than the 02-04's like the ARB, and the good news for the 02-04 guys is it will be available for them unlike the TJM.

I don't want to speak for anyone else who pre-paid for a front bumper, but I would understand if you have to tack on a few bucks for the new features and possibly higher material costs. I expect a great deal for pre-paying and waiting for a long time, but I don't want you working for free. 8)
