I wanted something I could easily put back to stock so I ordered
from Summit:

WLK-51002 DYNOMAX INTERMEDIATE PIPE 29.39

SUM-690042 EXHAUST TIP SS STR CUT2.5X8X3 17.95

shippling 10.95

exhaust shop 2.5 in pipe + hangar + welding 20.00

total= $78.29

I can easily un-bolt this short pipe and bolt back in the stock exhaust if I
need to. Plus its a lot cheaper than an aftermarket cat-back.
Not that much louder than stock either. Sitting inside with windows rolled
up I hardly notice a difference.

I did the same thing only in 3". I even got the parts from Summit. Good find on the intermediate pipe. I never thought to look for something like that.

Cool, sizzling legs for rear passengers as they get out.

I had begun to explain why, but it's best I don't at this time as I'm currently going through legal action. I'll post more in the coming weeks, probally months...if they let me.

Dont worry about it. Dealer or DC will not void your warranty over a muffler. I went through legal action with DC to and that never came up. But like you said to you can just bolt the old one on.

According to the magnuson moss act your warranty can not be voided because you used after market parts. They have to prove that your modification caused the problem. And if your allready going through legal action I doubt DC would try to go against the maggy moss at. That would only make them look even worse.

They will say that looking at them wrong voids your warranty.

I had my muffler cut off and replaced with a straight piece of pipe on mine for 30 bucks at the local muffler shop, They said they could put the muffler back for 30. The sound difference is negligible, when pulling a trailer up a grade is the only time I notice a difference. I have had my jeep on the lift at the dealer twice and they had no problems with it. Of course they don't have a problem with my cat filter either.

As far as burning legs, mine still goes out the same place, but I have pipes coming out the sides on my commando and have never burned anyone yet, it doesn't look like the pipe juts out past the edge of the vehicle so I wouldn't think passengers would burn themselves unless they crawl under the vehicle when they get out.

Here are the parts I used from Summit Racing for my 3" exhaust:

Magnaflow muffler (MPE-12867)
45* pipe (MPE-10739)
SS exhaust tip (SUM-690055)
3" exhaust tubing (SUM-640030)

I used a 2 1/2" to 3" reducer (WLK-41972) but if you could find a 3" flange like flash7210 used that would be easier. The 45 degree pipe allowed me to put the exhaust further behind the rear door.

Thanks Stan
I saw the pics of your Jeep and that inspired me to do this mod.

The exhaust tip doesn't stick out far enought for anyone to burn
themselves on, not that I really care.

Yeah, I could easily smash it on a big rock. Good thing there are no rocks
in Florida.

Reason I am asking as I would like to make a "bolt on" muffler elimnation. I can run it until I need to go through inspection and then unbolt it and put the stock muffler back on. I used to do this with my 77 Camaro for the Cat. Maramount universal cat kit but instead of using a cat I used straight pipe and it worked great. Everything was completely bolt on and bolt off.

BTW What FLARNG unit are you with? I was at CBTS for 6 years and my dad was with Troop Command. I lived in the CBTS area for 26 years.
