anyone get the SEPT. issue of JP?i reader submitted a letter to their mailbag section.it basically asked why there is no coverage of the LIBERTY in the mag.he responds by saying the liberty was never intended to be an enthusiasts jeep and once you reach a certain amount of mods there is no use in going on.there is more to it,just read it.

Got it.
Read it.
As a friend of mine says "that's your opinion"...
unfortunately, the magazine controls ed. policy, so it looks like the KJ is going to get zero coverage. I guess Bree qualifies as an enthusiast's Jeep.

Hopefully, without off-tracking this thread... suggestions on magazines that do treat the KJ decently?
As a KJ (but not Jeep) newbie, I just assumed all of them adopted the jaypee stance.

ya I was wondering who wrote that. its a intresting responce becuase i think the cherokee's got about the same type of scroutiny when they first came out. but he also kinda called all liberty owners not jeep enthusiasts. cappa is stuck in his old school ways and i dont think will give any sort of IFS jeep any respect.

Get those SFA KJ's out there and show them. Enter car shows, off-road events, and then, maybe, we can tell him to go bolt (similar to bolts) himself when he retracts his stance (if that were ever possible).

I won't event touch the filthy rag in a book store with my bare hands.

Yeah I didn't renew my subscription for the same reasons. Regardless of the liberty bashing it's a lame mag. It's the same crap regurgitated over and over again.

4WD and SU is a great mag.

It's a jeep thing, my levels of perception are sufficient to ascertain your implication

If you were offended by a lame joke, maybe you ARE.
Who gives a crap what some terdbuckets that get paid to bench race in an office think...they're obviously not the ones out wheeling these things.

I've liked 4wd and SUV for a long time...way prior to my owning a KJ. they just keep cementing my readership because of our like-opinions:D

I'm not lame, i'm just The 38 Year Old Virgin.

I feel that jokes like that don't help. They just perpetuate the idea that only certain people drive certain cars. Take my Pastor at Church (please  ) He drives a brand new Saab 9-3 Turbo, it doesn't mean he's lame. Though plenty of people think only gays drive Saabs

Better check where the plate money is going.

this is just how stupid jp mag can be no offence to anyone out there who likes it because to a wrangler guy it is perfect if you like reading the same thing over and over again. To me I would like to see a similar equiped TJ vs Arb Seth's kj on a shootout. It would be interesting to see how things would handle. And to say there is only so many upgrade to a kj is crap because u can upgrade the hell out of it and then be like hmmmm how about I tackle a solid axel. It would take me forever to upgrade it to the point I wouldn't want anything else on it. Just my opinion, and I think that the kj with a lift and skids and bigger tires and a locker is enough to get me in way to much trouble in my opinion. I look at all the kj pics and see them tackle some pretty tough trails. Just need to get more lifted and locked ones out there to make an impression on the wrangler crowd. I hope to get there one day.

Our church (Gloucester County Community Church) is 4000 members strong and brings in $50,000 Weekly from the offering plate. Our church building is paid off and debt free, no mortgage. He can afford it, and it's all above board too.

Ha, yesterday I thought "boy, I hope he didn't take that post seriously"

At least he's a PASTOR driving a Saab and not a Catholic PRIEST. Imagine the uphill battle he'd fight THEN...

And for a magazine to continue the jokes IS kind of lame, I agree...for any form of media to even use any form of discriminatory remarks about any of human-kind, lame, straight, "black dudes drive beat up Cadillacs" (seen that in a magazine, don't remember what) whatever, is just in poor taste and shows the editor-in-chief's real character, which will follow him through future job searches. But, then again...if you're offended by it, you don't have to read it IMO. I never cared much for JP back when I had a CJ, or any other brand-specific magazines (be it Mopar Action or Chevy whatever or Pontiac Muscle, although I am guilty for subscribing to 5.0&SuperFords back in my 5.0 days)

As a KJ and a YJ owner, I have to defend JP Magazine for what it is. Cappa acknowledges in his response that even though the KJ wasn't intened as an "enthusiast's Jeep", plenty of Jeep enthusiasts drive them.

His main problem is the limited amount of modification that can be done to the KJ to make it better off road, which I think is a bogus cop-out. If JP spent half of the energy on KJ's as they do every other Jeep, the aftermarket would be coming up with more stuff for it. Hey Cappa, Military duece-and-a-half's weren't intended as "enthusiast Jeeps" either, and I pretty sure there is ZERO aftermarket support for those babies. In fact, I'm not even sure those are "Jeeps" at all. But they have been featured monthly in JP lately. Huh.

However, we all consider ourselves Jeep guys and gals. Just because JP doesn't do much with KJ's yet doesn't mean you should boycott the entire periodical. Pick it up and read it. Like Cappa said, alot of their tech crosses over from other Jeeps (like the XJ) to KJ's. Stuff like axle tech, tire tech, t-case tech, tranny tech, electrical tech, etc etc. If you really ARE a Jeep enthusiast, you should be reading JP magazine regardless of what model Jeep you drive. It never hurts to learn more.

I think as more of us build our KJ's and start getting out to these events, the KJ will earn it's rightful place in the mag. Its going to be up to us. And yes, 4WD & Sport Utility is giving the KJ alot of attention (probably because they realize they're pulling KJ owners away from JP). I recommend subscribing to both, or at least browsing both at the newsstand.

KNOWLEDGE IS POWER (lol). :o

I used to get JP delivered to the door but stopped due to KJ bashing plus they advertise as JP, a JEEP magazine so they should have all models but they want to just deal with what they have in their driveway which is a lot of crap!
