In the maintenance log (assuming everyone is going by schedule B, since A is unbelievably idealistic).

*Inspect the boost pressure solenoid filter. Replace as necessary.- This I'm assuming they're not checking when I've done my 2 previous oil changes. I probably need to specify this service? Do you know what I should expect to pay? Is this the solenoid on EGR valve?

*Inspect for presence of water in the fuel filter/water separator unit. Not too worried about this, no one I know with Diesel's has ever had a problem. How can I check this myself once I get install the CAT filter and the water in fuel light will be disabled.

The boost pressure solenoid you can "inspect" yourself. It is a paper conical filter about two to three inches long. It sits on the passenger side fender right next to where the strut (coilover) bolts to the inner fender. It has a hard clear plastic covering over the paper filter. The paper is colored brown from the factory. If it is plugged with goop or is a dark color, then change it or unclog it ($5.00 part).

The second is a good question, and I dunno.

The only way I know to check for water in a filter that isnt in a clear housing is to open the drain on the bottom and see what comes out.

You can't. Unless you count pulling the filter and dumping it. At this point you might as well replace it. One of the drawbacks of the cat filter conversion.
