Replaced rear disc pads on 2005 CRD.

Pads were glued.

What should I use for glue on new pads?

He's probably talking about the "anti-squeal" goo. I use it on every brake job. Just go to the parts store and ask them for "anti-squeal", apply it liberally to the back of the pads and let it set up for 10 minutes before installing the pads.

He has to be talking about the anti squeal spray stuff. There is no glue used in a brake job. At least there shouldn't be!!!

It is the length of time that the pads remain on the calipers which causes them to stick on or become "glued" on to the degree that they seem glued tight. The are not actually "glued" on they just get stuck really tight.

Disc brakes are not as bad at squealing as they used to be, hardly ever anymore until they are worn out. When disc brakes first started coming out some would squeal like everything, yes I do remember when they came out

Dont think mine are going to wear out on the Liberty over 86000 miles and still going!

might be just some dirt in them, that will make them noisy, take it to a car wash and hose it out good in there and drive it for a while, :?

Hey Jon......You don't know how many times a week I hear this same story(cause I don,t even keep track).Contrary to belief, the materials used to make brakes are not what makes them sqeek. It's actually "Harmonic vibration" or the slight movement between the back of the pad and seat of the caliper.Stop by your local NAPA, or better parts house, and purchase a bottle of "High temp. brake lube".Not the rubbery or sticky spray on stuff, you want the greasy stuff.Clean the back of the pad and seat on the caliper, and apply a thin layer of this lube to both surfaces, including the circular edge of the caliper piston. While you have them apart, scuff the face of the pads until they are ruffed up,and bevel all edges of the face of the pad. This method seems to be the most effective in my daily defense of those who think that poor quality pads are supposed to sqeek.Did'nt mean to highjack your thread rjmaype, but maybe this will also keep your brakes quiet.

No problem......I know that it's really imbearasing when people see a nice vehicle, and then think that you don't take care of the brakes.
