I have a plan, just thought some one might have a better idea...

There is not much to work with, it is a pretty flimsy bumper cover.

The cover itself may seem flimsy (it is plastic after all) but there is metal underneath. They do mount the larger 'Renegade'-style lights on the bumper, so some good Hellas or PIAAs would do just fine. Besides, you never truly own a vehicle until you've drilled a hole in it :P

Are just talking about mounting the lights just through the plastic bumber and not through the metal part?

OK, if I read that right - no. I am talking about drilling thru both the plastic and the metal to mount the lights. That's what I di on mine and they're still sturdy after 2+ years.

The only metal under mine is the end of the unibody frame, and it is right in front of the factory fog lights. I do not think the bumper cover and sub-cover (both plastic) will take the vibration from the diesel nor 80+mph winds. I am thinking I will bolt a plate (1/4'' x 2'' x 8 or 10'') on top of the bumper on each side (painted gray or maybe gunmetal?). One side of the plate will be bolted to the frame as securley as possible and the other will be bolted throught the plastic crap as just additional support. They will also have to be spaced 1/2'' up off the bumper to get the nut on the bottom of the hella braket. This way I can mount the lights inside of the factory fogs.

I thought I could run one the whole way but the bumper receeds back at the ends and I am not handy or detailed enough to make a v shaped strap that would look worth a darn. There is a guy in this section who made a neat light bar for the front bumper, but i do not want to go that far (and would have to have a buddy do the fab work). So I am just looking to get the lights on there securely.

I went through just the plastic on mine. Used big fender washers on both sides. A couple of other guys did too. There was thread about it awhile ago but I can't find it. I get zero vibration and they have not come loose yet. Had it that way since last March, I think.

Can anyone post a picture of off road lights installed on an 05 or 06 Sport bumper?

here is an 06' i just used a 1/8" thick peice of steel cut to fit under the bumper for a backing plate......it does still vibrate when you get jarred around offroad but it works, and it'll buy you time to decide on what front bumper you want to buy later on....
