I've not had the F37 CSN done on my CRD. Right now I don't seem to be experiencing any problems. Funds are tight at the moment, so I'm holding off on doing the Suncoast TC.

So with that in mind - what tale-tale signs should I be on the lookout for in term of the stock TC going TU?

Rattles, jerks, maybe some screeching from under the vehicle at rear of engine - the plastic stator is disintegrating

Very low power off the line, thru the lower gears, but seems ok around 40mph and up - the stator roller clutch is bad, or the stator split, beginning disintegration = no torque multiplication

No TCC lockup - crunched plastic stator parts in the apply-piston circuit

No TCC lockup release - same, but in TCC clutch

Little forward movement - pump cracked, no pressure

No leaks - internal crack

Leaking - external crack

Etc

A bad Fuel Filter Head (read leaking) can also "act" like a TC Failure but is not.

Correct - but without the accompanying aural effects - (ab)normal operation can cause t\c shudder and erratic operation without being fatal

When I turn mine on in the morning it sounds like one of belts is squeeking. Is that maybe the TC? Also, 2 or 3 times now I experienced something really weird. I turned my CRD on and it sounded like it somebody stuck a big plastic peice in the belt system. Engine was shacking, rattling and I heard loud "plastic-bending" noises.

As I said though, the last part only happened about 3 times though.

Likely not - TC noises will come from underneath the Jeep right behind the front tires, where the trans joins the engine.

Likely you're hearing serp belt slip from the alternator pulley, maybe also from the ac compressor pulley, below the alternator - just pulled the belt on #2 son's '05 for a 50k-mile cleanup to find sand and plastic in the grooves, but it was really attention-getting, particularly at idle when hot - popping, rattling, squealing - but all at the front of the engine .

Check your belt edges and in the ridges for heat\ozone cracking, splitting, ply unraveling, etc - if ok, run it but keep an ear out for any increase in symptom

Those additional noises are rather scary, tho - have someone start the engine as you observe from outside - stand just out from the front wheels - if noises emanate from behind the tires, your goose is cooked - if from the front of the Jeep, pop the hood to see if you can further pinpoint the area.

Yes, I've noticed before that one of the things that is belt driven is not right. I am pretty sure its the alternator, if you get close to it you can here it rattling. Also, every 10-15 seconds you can see the belt "vibrate", or jump a little. Dont know if thats normal. Anyway, there is a constant rattle coming from the alternator at idle.

Im pretty sure though that if I take to the dealer they will say that everything is ok b/c its not EXTREMELY loud. What do y'all think? Is there maybe a way top prove to them that the alternator is bad, or one of the pulleys?

Try that without the a\c - should settle down, some - plus, there are two more pumps on the belt, one that's clutch-driven just like the a\c compressor, so that belt is never gonna be serene

Does not mean that the alt is bad - if you can get the correct slim-jim 15mm socket tool for the tensioner, remove the belt and rotate the alt sheave - should rotate easily with no bearing noises - while the belt is loose, check all the other rollers in the loop - no noises, reinstall the belt and keep an eye on it - and an ear
